However they are tactically weak.

Nobody want's a championship seen finished under safety car.
Not last year, not this year, not any year.
There were other options available to Masi within the rules without deciding the outcome of the race. He made his choice and where he is now says it all.

Your drama 'fashion queen throwed Masi under a bus !

And he is trying to do the same thing with the 2021 marshals...

It's a shame for motorsports !

And then....There comes suddenly that red car with a driver with huge spanish b@lls !

Not so. MB knew that the rules at that point only allowed for a safety car finish. Why should their strategy consider alternatives not allowed by the rules?

Masi had the option to red flag the race but chose not to. A red flag would have allowed them to finish while racing. Why did he choose to materially prejudice certain competitors when he had a better option, an option clearly defined in the rules?

Bullshit. Latifi crashed in lap 53. Still 5 laps to go. No one can predict how long the cleanup takes. 5 laps is pretty long at sc speed, especially at Yas Marina, that's a pretty long track.
At that point teams have to make tactical decisions. Merc chose the wrong one.
And of course if BOT had done his job better, VER wouldn't have had a free pitstop, but his driving was sub par.

A red flag is called when the track is totally blocked, when driving has become impossible/too dangerous or when the marshalls/medical teams can't do their work safely.
Neither of these were the case. Latifi wasn't injured, the car was totally on the side of the track; cars could easily pass at SC speed while the cleanup crew did their job.

A red flag is called in a danger situation. The rules are pretty clear about that.
Using it to influence the outcome of the race...that would be bending the rules....

From the rulebook:
"If Competitors or officials are placed in immediate physical danger by cars running on the track,
and the clerk of the course deems circumstances are such that the track cannot be negotiated
safely, even behind the safety car, the race will be suspended."

And as the wreckage was cleared under normal sc, there was clearly not enough danger to suspend the race...

So Masi was hurrying up the cleanup because he didn't want the championship to end under safetycar (nobody wants that....) but have it fought out on the track (and he expressed already a similar opinion the race before so this was expected). So only the lapped cars between place 1 and 2 could be unlapped.
Letting the lapped cars pass is normal practice as lapped cars shouldn't interfere with the race at the top of the field.
Ferrari (Sainz) became the victim of that. NOT Hamilton.
And yet Ferrari/Sainz have piece with that (no protest) and Merc/Ham keeps on whining.

Maybe Ferrari also rather wants to see RB take the WDC than Merc. Because of the whining. Who knows

Last I checked Lewis and Max are not the only two racing. The decision should be fair for all competitors. The decision made had a negative effect on the lapped competitors that did not pass the safety car as they could have made a place if they were able to pass or someone made a mistake. By separating the lapped cars this could not happen. They are in the same race as Max and Lewis and rules interpretations should account for all competitors not the first two.

Man let's move on… agree to disagree.. let them battle it out in 2022…

Very interested to see how they resolve the porpoising and overall evolution of the cars in the test leading up to the Grand Prix. Also, bring back the V10s. I got depressed seeing the F2004 the other week

If there is enough support for the notion that racing should not finish under caution, then it should be written into the rules in the form of extra laps or something rather than a guessing game of how the rules may be bent to satisfy the notion.

They should bring back active suspension. Plenty of production vehicles incorporate this technology now. It's hardly the expensive technology it once was.

Not only would it help solve the porpoising but the teams could control the ride height in such a way to fully exploit the ground effects, this would only add to the show.

Yes, and regardless, the FIA turned down Merc's protest.
So apparently the FIA is of the opinion that Masi's decisions did not wrongfully influence the battle between HAM and VER, so VER is the rightful WDC.
And thats what it's about.

From my perspective it was never in question that the race result would stand, the FIA was never going to change it whether there was cause or not.

Changing the result wasn’t my point, only the hope that lessons were learned and that going forward a better governance structure will lead to a more consistent and predictable application of the rules.
