Schumacher to Brawn/Mercedes GP?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/mot...-Mercedes.html

Anyone think this might actually happen? or just wishful thinking?

It is sad that BMW pulled out, Merc stepped in to F1.

I think it is news reporting at its best. Firstly, Schumi's neck is all screwd up and I doubt it can withstand F1 G levels. Secondly, he has a good thing going with Ferrari and their road car division, I doubt he'll want to jeopardize that on a mere whim. Lastly, the article did state that the chances of Schumi coming back are slim to none, which usually means "no". So, I really dont think it will happen, and if all hell breaks loose and he does join Mercedes, I will be completely heartbroken. I think Schumacher knows Mercedes Mclaren V. Ferrari rivalry better than anyone, and joining forces with the enemy is just not ethical or right. Yes I Say Ethical b/c Ferrari did give him an obscene amount of driver championships

What the heck are you talking about? It's not like he is leaving Ferrari to join the competition, they let go of him 3 years ago, they forced him out a year earlier than he wanted to retire just to secure Kimi.

Do you think that Michael Jordan coming out of retirement to play for the Wizzards was unethical? Ferrari did not want Schumi 3 years ago, he is free to race for anyone he wants. I don't think this has anything to do with money either, he is borth Billions of Euros already

The comparison to basketball is irrelevant and unsubstantiated because u cant even compare the bulls and wizards. A Lakers and Celtics comparo would still have been better but that still does not describe the relationship between Ferrari and Mclaren Mercedes. Wouldn't it piss u off a little, if Magic or Kareem came back out of retirement back in the day to join the Celtics? If Bird signed with the Lakers?

If Schumi wants to come back then Ferrari should be his primary/only consideration. A little late now though, however Raikkonen's seat was empty a while back (before Alonso was signed).

Anyways this topic is not even worth deliberating over b/c like I said before it is media bullshit at its best

Being (statistically) the greatest driver ever to have graced the cockpit of an F1 car. I deny this forcing out business. You sound like a bitter Eddie Jordan when you say that.

I can see this happening. Toward the end of the season Brawn had lost its edge over the competition and the two top teams were Red Bull and McLaren. That's one reason why Button left for McLaren. With Rubens gone as well, Brawn will need some serious driving talent to compete this year. Ross Brawn and Schumi are one hell of a team, so it all makes sense. The two things standing in the way are the condition of Schumi's neck (which is a huge issue) and the condition of Schumi's marriage (which is probably less of an issue to him).

I can't wait for next season if this proves true. We'll have four former GP champs and one future GP champ all in competitive machines. Should be awesome to watch.

When Brawn took over Honda I thought this was originally the plan - he gets the team straightened out and then Honda brings in Schuey. But then the whole Honda leaving F1 thing happened and I figured it wasn't gonna happen. But since winning the WDC, WCC, and getting bought by Mercedes? I would be shocked if Schumacher didn't race for this team. He doesn't even have to win. All he has to do is show up and it will draw in huge crowds.

Schumacher rumors gaining momentum

German publication Bild suggested that the Mercedes Grand Prix team has offered Michael Schumacher contract for the 2010 season. Bild states that Schumacher has been offered €7m ($10.2m).
Mercedes CEO Nick Fry refused to rule out Schumacher, saying only that the team is discussing things with a number of different drivers.
The only comments so far from Schumacher's management have described a comeback as 'highly unlikely'.

I would love to see him back in F1.
It would be odd to see him not in a Ferrari. I just hope if he does come back that he is in a competitive car, so we can see how the new talent in F1 stacks up against.
I think McLaren is going to have a very strong car next season.

the issue for McLaren will be that they have to good drivers, stealing points from each other. Like the time Prost and Senna where driving for McLaren.
Looking forward to next season! My favorite is Vettel!!!!

don't forget the new rules... button takes more care of this tires and has a less aggressive driving style then Hamilton. This for sure is an advantage for him next year. But indeed, next year we will see how good the Brawn car was this year. If Hamilton dominates Button, then the car was really really good.
