So much hate on the Wranglers. It’s useful for pulling my hybrid camper so it does its job well. Yeah it doesn’t handle like my f30/f36, that’s for sure.

Back on topic, e30’s. Yep, I said it.

-- American brand pickup trucks (F-150, Silverado, Ram) -- last year I sold my beloved Sprinter van that I used for farm etc. duties and replaced it with a *gasp!* pickup truck. I did not want a lousy ride and a macho image and went with a Honda Ridgeline pickup. Very civilized. Not driven often but I needed something suitable for utility duties and the Ridgeline fit the bill. My wife even likes driving it.
-- Pretty much anything Italian
-- 10-20 years ago, I would've said anything Korean, but Hyundai and Kia have come a long way since then.
-- With a few exceptions, pretty much anything U.S. domestic-branded
-- Tesla!

It's quite fun on a nice day with no doors/roof and a cute girl in the passenger seat towing some kayaks or jetskis to the local lake. I will say it would be hard for me to buy one of the newer ones, they lack the character and seem to be electrical nightmares. The 4 door ones are hard to look at and the V6 lacks the low-end torque of the older 4.0L i-6. It's basically my 4-wheel motorcycle for nice days.

I'd probably never own a minivan or CUV if I can help it. CUVs are way too cookie-cutter and boring, and pretty much all drive the same. Minivans do have a lot of space, but generally drive terrible and have inherent transmission issues due to their design and the weight they have to carry around. A modern diesel pickup truck probably makes this list as well, since with all the emissions equipment issues they are not really worth owning unless you need something to pull a huge trailer all the time.

Silly thread. It would be far easier for me to list the ones I would buy, than the ones I would not.

Tesla might be the most popular liked & disliked car to make the list several times.

I feel nothing for the car myself, but their fan base is similar to Jeep, very loud and very proud

I can see owning a wrangler for hunting or towing on the weekend, sure. But not as a daily.

good thread -

current gen Mustang... unless its a 100K GT500... i see nothing special in ANY of these cars... plus they have such a bad stereotype against them now and such terrible dealer service that i just couldn't do it

absolutely anything Nissan / Infiniti - this brand makes terrible CVT tranny cars with nothing specials

4runner / Tacoma - I have no idea why anyone on earth would buy these dinosaurs... i saw one up close and thought I opened up a history book

just about anything chrysler / jeep - terrible quality, bottom reliability ratings

jaguar - nothing somehow invites me to that entire brand... again more reliability issues

vw - i wouldn't touch anything there short of a GTI / Golf R

Kias / Hyundais - why would anyone buy this brand with companies like Honda / Mazda around?

i think a wrangler gets a lot of hate because its super culty like tesla... except Tesla actually offers an onroad driving experience whereas a Jeep wrangler offers none lol... loud ass tire roar with a soft suspension

I cannot handle Kia or Hyundai. They are the Japanese car manufacturer of the 2000's. They do not appear to have an original design of their own and are very able copiers of every other brand on the market. I hate renting a car and getting stuck with one of these. In the future I will make sure that I'm not renting these POS'S.

I think it's more of a lifestyle brand for wrangler. Same goes for stuff like subaru. You drive a subaru or a wrangler because you're about that life, not because it's a great car.

Even utility wise I don't see the benefit of a wrangler over an actual pickup truck. A truck can haul more, tow more and overall be a more modern/better vehicle. So really the only reason to buy a jeep is you're about that "lifestyle" or maybe in some edge cases of real off roading rock climbing stuff (don't know anything about that, but I think they are popular in that group).

I've never owned one, but have been in a few that family members have owned and I think they can look cool, but that's about it for me.

Agree. Same with the Mini Cooper. Lifestyle thing. Test drive one once. It was a bumpy little car.

I likely will be buying a new RAM truck in a week or so, since a tree fell on my old one last night. This truck was more comfortable to drive long distances than my 750Li and has a lot more room and utility. And yes, we do truck stuff with it (mostly lumber). My former boss always drove GMC Yukon Denali XL (he’s a big guy) and although it is a big vehicle, it also is very comfortable and useful. I had a work Tahoe before I retired, and a Durango R/T prior to that, and liked both (the Durango was better but smaller).

I probably won’t buy a Hyundai, Kia, Toyota/Lexus. If we broaden to less popular (fewer sales), Jag, Aston, Alfa, Mercedes. And honestly, BMW really doesn’t have anything for me in its line right now. But that will probably change in another model cycle or two. The mentioned cars are either too boring or too unreliable. The Mercedes stands out as a vehicle that, where I live, says “I’m a rich prick” and I’d rather people discover that more slowly.

I actually owned a mini cooper for a short time. It was a John Cooper Works with a loud ass exhaust. I remember the exhaust had 2 modes, however to change it you needed this little bluetooth fob with just one button on it. The car did not come with it (it was used) and I harassed the dealer until they finally ordered one for me. Man on sport mode that thing was obnoxious. I loved it!

Comfort wise though it was probably one of the most uncomfortable cars I've owned. Sold it probably after like a year.

Yeah, thought it was fun too, but would not be a good daily driver. Guess you felt the same since you got rid if it after a year.

Yeah I actually think I went from the Mini to an F10 550i so I'm guessing I was looking for comfort at that time. However I also went through cars like underwear back then so. I still swap cars a lot more frequently than most people, but I have slowed down a bit.

Drove my friends Mini Cooper a few yrs back from Hilton Head to Florida, really enjoyed driving it for the go-kart factor.

My friend is bringing over a Polestar tomorrow - just because she works for the company and needs ppl to test drive them. She knows I like cars, so I'll give it a spin, expecting nothing interesting.

i think thats a poor arguement because a ton of people buy M cars and the m brand has definitively become a lifestyle brand for many... especially if u look at certain population segments / countries

the BIG difference being... M cars arent junk
