Couple get 9 years prison for Wendy's finger scam

California, your justice system has a problem.

This stupid couple should have received a suspended sentence and been forced to do community service for 100 hours. God knows people do a lot worse stuff and walk....this is monumentally STUPID!!

I actually agree with the sentence dished out to the couple.
Too harsh? perhaps. But at the very least it will send a stern warning to the ever increasing number of people that try to scam the legal system by filing frivolous lawsuits.

From the news "Company officials said it took Wendy's months to recover from the bad publicity and lost millions of dollars in sales because of the incident. At one point it gave away free ice cream to try to lure customers back into its San Jose area restaurants."

I probably would agree with canucklion.
This is the kind of lawsuits that would increase premiums. Basically they wanted to make money on this. How about the families of the people who work at wendys. During that time, some were laid from their work. I hope they learn from this.

I used to eat at that wendys from time to time. After this even though wendy's was not at fault, I really don't like to.

I agree, actually, just throw them into the general population at a max security prison. They'll get what they deserve for raping women/kids, by being some big dude's bitch.

I read the husband got 12 years, and he got the severed fingertip from one of his co-worker who got it chopped off on the job.

If I was the judge, I'd garnish part of their wages to put towards the loss incurred by Wendy's, but then they'd pretty much have to work quite a few lifetimes just to pay it off.
