Surely this would have xdrive based on the 240? Your information is purely speculative.

So all M3s have been AWD since the E46, based on this logic?
How do you come up with this stuff…

Agreed, but not light weight or much faster.

There's a 600lb difference between the M8 (4295lbs) and AMG GT (3666lbs), as well as a big difference in weight distribution (55/45 versus 47/53). Speed/0-60 is of course limited by traction (Switchable AWD versus RWD only). The way these two cars drive is drastically different.

Yeah, and Kia or Hyundai or Geely don't have this idiotic theme in their corporate strategy you think?

So when that's all that's left, what makes BMW then on the long term? Just another Geely maybe?

To be honest besides I6 there isn't much left. Mazda is coming out with rwd I6 and MB has new I6 also.

BMW does not have lighter driver focused rwd I6 car anymore.

Even electric is waaay behind without dedicated ev platform. Considering they had I8 years ago it doesn't appear they had good strategy. Also hybrid cars are stop gap solution to decrease carbon footprint and are very complicated without any real world benefit, my opinion.

The focus seems to be X models so gl to them in the future.

BMW sells plenty of cars and is already profitable. It wouldn't hurt them to make a cool sports car even if it is limited in availability or sales. Would be nice to see something cool for the 50th anniversary of M.

So let me get this straight.. they changed it from X8 to XM because they wanted it to be an M-exclusive flagship but now there's going to be an XM 45e? That sounds as ridiculous as an M5 50i. Oh wait. I realised just as I finished typing this comment. Sigh

But still.. the M550i actually belongs to the 5 series family. What on earth are they going to call this? The "BMW X" M45e or BMW XM eDrive45?

X8 M45e, X8 M and X8M competition/CS/etc would've fit their naming scheme a lot better but what do I know.

I drove a lot of ///M car, currently a M2CS, but I`m not overal convinced of the G82 style, both exterior and interior.

The exterior proportions do not look wright IMHO, and the DigiDash is just b.tt ugly too

The engine will as always deliver (although with technical issues like the M3-M4, it's almost history repeating itself)

As much as I'm a Bimmer fan, I want to see the car first IRL to make a definite opinion about it.

I have severe doubts about this car

Ok ... "Same S58 as G80/G82 under the hood, tuned to 455hp. RWD - of course."

So this seems to be the non- Competition variant? Then I would expect a torque also in the 550Nm range as with the G80/G82 non-Comp models.

What about the M2 Comp. then? 480-490 hp (+30hp seems to be plausible for a Competition variant)?
But at what torque??? If it still keeps the low torque number of the 473hp non Comp G80/G82, also the M2 Comp. could be provided with the MT option.
If torque goes rather 600Nm+, then M2 Comp will be a ZF only model like M3/M4 Competition ...

Latest compiled info for each:

G87 M2
  • Production 12/22-07/29
  • Production only at SLP Mexico
  • Same S58 as G80/G82 under the hood, tuned to 455hp. RWD - of course.
  • Will be available with a manual and an automatic. Most options will be the same as G80/G82, and I don't see much of that decontenting that was done with the original F87 compared with F80/F82. Though ceramic brakes and bucket seats seem to be missing, all the drivetrain and suspension things are the same as G82, and even carbon roof will be an option. The wheels will be 19" front and 20" rear, G87 specific design. The first four months of its production will fall into the "M 50th anniversary" period so expect the initial run to become somewhat collectible. And the new dashboard will be standard from day one.
  • G87 M2 Competition will indeed be called "M2 Competition".
See G87 M2 spy pics: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1844099

G09 XM
  • Production: 12/22-11/27
  • Expected model lineup: a 45e hybrid and two different gas engines.
  • 650hp, likely with S58 used in a hybrid setup for the first time, seems to be the only model that will be offered at intro.
  • Notable standard M equipment: diff, dark blue sport brakes (can choose red or black as options), seats, seat belts, carbon fiber trim. It'll get next level driving assist in mid-2023. Wheel options go from 21" all the way to 23".

See XM spy pics: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1760949
Wow! Wonder if you can get the hybrid with a 6MT…perhaps a 2% chance
