I am not a fan of the recent BMW designs. The new 2,3, and 4 series are all a down grade from the previous generation as far as looks. The XM continues in the same direction. Has BMW lost its way?
Seems like I need to hold my car for a long time because I can’t buy any of the new designs. |

I'd be pretty outraged at the XM had the iX not existed. The iX is truly truly horrible, and makes the XM more bearable.
The XM has some interesting design elements individually but as a whole I don't think it works well. BMW has seen the growth in the uber-luxury SUV marketplace from brands like Bentley, Aston, Lamborghini, and its very own Rolls Royce. I think they want a piece of that market, and creating their interpretation of a Halo Warthog is how they plan to enter that space. Honestly if they just pulled back a little on the extremeness of the design and make it more cohesive, shrink the grilles, etc. there is potential.
