Yeah, anything is better than the awful wheels BMW has been sourcing recently.

Totally get that but you dont think the motor could of also been used in the IS350 / and multiple other lexus's that are RWD?

Not arguing just discussing ( i know internet tone is hard to read, So dont want you to think I disagree )... Just figured they could of made their own I6 which also could of doubled down as an i4 aka modular. But either or in the day of hybrids and electrics im glad we have yet another I6 RWD Turbo and even if its Toyota badged ( Legacy & Name Aside ) it will be a great modable car im sure. If anything we will drag other companys into the BMW fold that would of never made aftermarket BMW parts.

It is going to be a popular car and over the years it will evolve into something people will appreciate.

The red mirrors look terrible, if I bought one of those cars I'd fix those immediately.

Those only come with the launch edition. The regular cars have black mirrors.

I think it's just the cam and angle. It's actually wider than the A80.

In other news, Supra in blue.

The car looks best in grey or blue. Not sure why but it does. It’s a bit like the z4 coupe really.

I was always bothered by its look then I realize it looks a bit too toy-ish for the money and for the advertised performance. It's like they took the Toyota 86 and decided to make as little change as possible. In the $30K range then it's probably not a problem but not at mid $50K to $60K range. In this price range people are looking for a bit of a luxury but I don't see it in the design.

Toyota can look at the Alfa Romeo 4C for a little bit of a lesson in designing a small 2dr sport car.

2020 Toyota GR Supra Sold Out In the UK

https://www.autoevolution.com/news/2...uk-133353.html

Quote:
As expected of the GR Supra, “there will be 300 owners in the UK during the first year of the car’s launch.” All of them are spoken for despite the fact production in Graz, Austria started a handful of days ago.

No fewer than 900 have been allocated for Europe in 2019, and yes, every last one of them has sold out as well. As far as pricing is concerned, the United Kingdom gets the GR Supra from £52,695 while the A90 Edition levels up to £56,945 on-the-road. Care to guess how much the Z4 costs in this part of the world?

The BMW-badged sibling is £36,990 in the UK, capable of 149 miles per hour and 6.6 seconds from naught to 62 miles per hour. Of course, the M40i is more expensive, packing more suck-squeeze-bang-blow than the entry-level variant. The Supra, on the other hand, comes with the 340-horsepower B58 inline-six turbo engine from the get-go, hence the higher starting price.

500 Nm of torque allows the rear-wheel-drive coupe to accelerate to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds, and if you keep your foot planted to the loud pedal, the ZF 8HP transmission allows you to hit 155 mph. Before you do that, make sure you’re driving on the race track or on the Autobahn.

Toyota of UK lists seven exterior colors for the GR Supra, starting with Prominence Red. The others are Black Metallic, White Metallic, Deep Blue Metallic, Silver Metallic, Ice Grey Metallic, and the eye-catching Lightning Yellow. An 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Supra Connect comes standard, together with Smart Entry and push-button start.

A digital combi-meter and head-up display are standard on the 3.0-liter Pro trim level, but you’ll have to wait until 2020 for that model to arrive in the United Kingdom. Looking at the bigger picture, it’s hard to understand why Toyota is limiting production numbers instead of allowing Supra enthusiasts to buy the car in all variants possible, right now.

Exclusivity and heritage? Forget that, the A90 doesn’t live up to the hype nor does it compare to the previous generation of the Supra. You know, the one with the 2JZ engine?

Toyota already has a relatively new line of V6s both NA and twin turbo that can be used for both FWD and RWD.

Again, no use in creating a new engine that isn’t cost effective. It would be like BMW developing a V6 just to use in its FWD-based platforms and the i8.

Oh, yeah. The RCF and even the LC are clearly looking for chassis that aren't comically overweight. The GT86 has lots of issues related mostly to Toyota bad decisions. They're lost at sea when it comes to making sporty cars these days (or possibly always, bar one generation of Supra.)

Back in 2006 when BMW introduced the Z4 M Coupe, there were about 600-700 VINs allocated for the 2006 model year. Car was officially under production in March. I placed my order at the LARGEST BMW dealership in the country (at the time, in volume not in floor *******. Was told, at the time, that my allocation would be one of the LAST for 2006, if I didn't want to pay a $10,000-$12,000 mark up.

Having never even paid MSRP for any car I've ever bought (and the Z4 M Coupe remain the ONLY car I ever paid MSRP for), I waited not quite so patiently for 6 months for my allocation to be built. Every single allocation nearly nation wide was spoken for in the first 60 days the car went on sale.

Suffice it to say, the Z4 M Coupe, at the time, I thought, was going to be a super hot seller. As it turned out, I took delivery of my 2006 in September of 2006. By November 2006 Z4 M Coupes were piling up at dealerships, with *MY* dealership having 6 on the lot at any given moment, up to 12 by early 2017. By that time, had I been patient and waited another 3-4 months, I would have been able to buy a Z4 M Coupe with $10,000 under INVOICE. A nearly $16,000 swing in price in just 3 months.

I hope the Supra name plate can carry this car. I truly do. But if my guesses are right, the Supra is going to suffer the same fate. Once those "enthusiasts" buy the first batch, no one else in the general public will. You're probably looking at a few thousand die-hards that will plunk down money right away, then maybe a few thousand more will eventually buy-in, but at the price point, there are much MUCH better alternatives for the general public. You can get an AMG GLA45 for same or less, with equivalent performance, AWD, AND capability to carry 4 plus more versatile luggage room.

Sure, it's SOLD OUT now. Give it 12 months and they'll be begging you to take one home.

No one in their right mind shopping for a Supra will also be looking at an AWD SUV/tall wagon. The market for the Supra will be people shopping for the Z4, 370Z, Cayman, TT, 2 Series, etc. It's a very small segment compared to the entire market.

That wasn't my point though. My point is, there are only so many people who ARE shopping for the cars on your list. And out of those, those who wanted the Supra have already put their deposit down, hence the car is sold out NOW. Give it 12 months and the inventory is gong to pile up, just like all the other cars you listed (except for the 2, which isn't exactly a 2 seat sports car).

THE post popular 2 seat sports car last year sold a whopping 30,000 copies in 2018, for 1/3rd the price. There were 3,000 Porsche Caymans (closest competitor) sold (of all the Cayman variants) in 2018. You do the math.

Here are some U.S. sales figures of the same cars you listed (sans 2 series)

Z4: 4
370Z: 3,468
Audi TT: 1,289
Porsche Cayman: 3,179
Mercedes SLK: 1,993

All told the numbers of cars in this segment and price point sold at a clip of 10,000 a year. Do y'all really think the Supra is going to sell a thousand a month moving forward?

There's no market supporting that.

And that is EXACTLY what I am saying. Once the Supra enthusiast, those that absolutely have to have this car, bought in, sales will trickle down to a few hundred a month. Because this IS a niche product sports car. The excitement about how 2019 allocation has already been sold out? I'd be surprised if they sell 900 a year in 24 months.

I'm just posting news. I'm surprised (insert sarcasm) that 2020/2019 models have been called for because of the endless speculation from the internet about this car being a sales flop. I'm looking at you NSX.. We'll shall see. Personally, I think the numbers will hold strong for the first 2-3 years after the intial launch. Then sales will start to tank as with most sports car. Hopefully it won't be as bad if Toyota gives this thing proper updates, special editions, more powerful version, MT, and etc. I'm looking at you 86..

Is it just me or is the buzz around the Supra about 1,000,000,000,000 times hotter than that surrounding the new BMW version of same.
