That's unique mark.... now you need to add ripples for where you were standing. that might be a bit hard though...

some more water.... this was as much as i could stop it down, at 50iso and image stabilizer, then bumped up the exposure in post processing... still really couldn't get a really slow shutter speed due to it being a very sunny day.... first in a long long time.... It was amazing to get outside!!!!

Nicely done. I like the water movement. Not too overdone.

thanks, I'm fairly happy with it, I wouldn't have minded 1/3rd slower speed, but nothing more then that... don't really want the angel like water movements.

Nice water PS in the church!
First it was too much rain and clouds to get out. Now it's too much sun to get a good exposure. The photographers curse.
How about getting a Singray variable polarizer?

something to look into.

I'm happy to play in the too much sun Just have to complain about something....

I have a cokin setup with a polerizer somewhere in my place for a few filters, I found i never used any of my filters as i liked the way a lot of my shots were coming out without them, so i just leave them at home. I'll probably start carrying the polarizer again though because i've been finding a bit more recently that i'm running into water situations or haze that i want to clean a tiny bit.

I kill haze in PP by using contrast, + blacks and + saturation/clarity. If it is bad then I - blue.

blue eh? I'll have to look into that. I haven't really had to do much haze removal, I shoot mostly L series lenses and they tend to be pretty good at getting rid of it before it's a problem. But next time i'm back in some mountains, i'll definitely come across haze and need to fix it.

If you can see it even the magical L can't do anything for you.
The Grand Canyon killed me last year, it was raining and the haze was horrible from the moisture.
Only some serious PP in LR3 saved the day.

Other than having to use my $40 18-55 lens an associated sharpness deficiencies. What would you do with something in front of you like this? Or PP.
Grand Canyon sunset last August.
18mm, F14, .8 sec., 100 ISO, +.7
I think I need to get that EF-S 17-55 or 15-85 for summer.

That's a great looking shot. I'm assuming you used IS or were you on a tripod?

you shooting Nikon or Canon?

Major haze is something you definitely have to do in post processing, even a polarizer won't get it all, but it definitely helps make work easier in post processing.

only thing i would do in the situation of that picture is put it on a tripod (if it weren't already) and set the camera up to autobracket on the multi shot drive so the clouds don't move too far while you're shooting.

Thanks, the colors were almost this saturated. I kicked it up only a few points and brought the blacks up to kill that haze.

Canon and I think that I may have just rested it on a sign. My son was shooting film so I gave him the tripod.
The vibration from a multi shot would have killed sharpness for me, so I took different shots using live view and timer.

I used to run the 17-85mm IS lens earlier this year, it was pretty sharp, the only downfall to it was it wasn't super fast. Which was a shame because it absolutely killed my kit lens for clarity and color.

here's an example, with no post processing, just straight out of the camera.

Utah? Antelope canyon comes to mind, there is another one.
I was thinking of visiting that when in Flagstaff last year but didn't want to drive those extra few hundred miles. Time was a factor too, just spent two days in the canyon instead.

it's just outside of paige arizona right on the border of arizona and utah.

"the wave" is also pretty close by, something to google. I didn't see it sadly.

this was Antelope canyon, i think it was the lower canyon if i remember correctly.

I would definitely go back, and the nice thing is they will let you take a tripod down there. If i had known at the time, i would have taken mine with me. They will also let you go in alone to take pictures after you do the tour if you want, and you can take as much time as you like.

I know a lot more about photography now then i did when i was in there, so i really want to go back and get better shots. That whole area is very unique. Starting from the Grand Canyon over to Paige arizona is beautiful and interesting coloured rock faces, and then from Paige Arizona up towards Moab Utah is all different colours and neat monuments (natural formations) and then in the distance you start to see mountains again.

it's right on the border or just about. And yes, there's upper and lower antelope canyon.

it was definitely worth going too, but if you're on a time limit, it can definitely be an issue, I pretty much zig zagged all over the southwest. Hit route 66 a few times, and got to see some interesting things.

I need to go through all my pictures again sometime soon and see what's what.
