How best to peel a boiled egg

I don't wanna google and just want real life accounts from you guys. Don't wanna buy specialized equipment either. Tired of burning my fingers haha but I wanna eat them while still hot.

Saw a video of someone putting a hard boiled egg (with shell) into a jar with what I think was vinegar. Shook it well, and all the shell came right off in seconds.

We do a lot of deviled eggs for parties.

Eggs in room temp water, bring to boil in 15 mins, ice water, peel under running water.

I've cleaned 30 or so at a time and it was not bad.

If I`m eating them right away, I peel them under the tap running cold water over them, or I put them in a bowl of cold water and they peel much easier.

Not related to eggs but having been kicked out of the house as a teenager, I was embarrassingly old when I learned instead of peeling a clove of garlic by hand just put it under the flat side of a chopping knife and smash it. Skin comes off quick that way. Wish boiled eggs had a trick like that.

After boiling them put in a bowl with a lot of ice, after 5 mins you peel them. Its some 5-5-5 method wife uses weekly; 5 min in IP, 5 min pressure release, 5 min ice bath.

They do - you gently roll it under your hand on a flat surface, just hard enough to crack the shell all around. I've done dozens at a time this way.

I remember a scene from Angel Heart, that's how 'Louis Cypher' does it.😅

I "hardboil" the egg in the microwave.

In a 1 cup (8 ounces) Pyrex measuring cup fill with 1 cup of cold (tap) water. Crack egg and gently let it slide into the water. I put nothing in the water.

Put the cup in the microwave. I cover the cup with a paper towel. I set the timer to 60 seconds on full (950 watts) power.

There can be some variability if one switches from a small egg size to a larger egg size. And the temperature of the tap water can play a role. Occasionally the egg will emit a "pop" signaling I used too much time given the size of the egg and the tap water temperature.

You will probably need to do some experimentation on how long to let the egg sit in the hot water to ensure it is hard cooked to your satisfaction.

When the egg is cooked I carefully pour the contents of the measuring cup into a large slotted spoon. After some bit of drain time I put the egg onto a plate.

Added: For peeling pan cooked hard boiled eggs I use the technique I learned from my Mom. Pour off the water and then shake the pan hard enough the shells crack from the eggs hittihng each other and the side of the pan.

The eggs are hot but the shells come off pretty easily.

I tap the fat end of the egg lightly with a spoon before cooking, to crack the internal membrane. sometimes takes 3 or 4 hits to do it, but should sound like one of those snap dragons. Note this also make them easier if you're separating the egg yolks too.

Cook normal, peels much easier, but I do always do it under cold water.

Well, then peel the eggs the way it has been done for years.

Watched my Mom and she could have a pan of hard boiled eggs peeled in about as much time as it takes to type this.

Not quite the same but you could try French Style eggs. In non stick skillet add butter then when melted add one or 2 or more eggs. Add a couple of tablespoons of tap water and cover the skillet with a tight fitting lid.

Water steams the tops of the eggs and you can let them steam until they are hard cooked.

I don't eat hard-boiled eggs, but if I did, there's only one way I'd peel the shell.

Don't forget to grow out those nails so you can also fingerstyle w the guitar

Actually, I dunno why Rourke's character was so shocked by him biting into it, unless he felt his soul being consumed. I'd just be thinking 'ok weirdo' lol.

boil
cool by rinsing out hot water and dropping ice cubes in pan
drop one or two into a plastic glass, shake a bit
finish peeling, rinse in remaining cold water in pan
