*OFFICIAL* general photography conversation thread

One thing that was kind of annoying me in this Photography sub-forum was that we didn't have just a general conversation thread, where we could share random images/videos that others created. Every time I wanted to post a video or information about something photography-related, I felt I had to create a brand new thread because it just didn't fit anywhere.

So, I figured I'd create a general photography thread where we can freely continue our BSing (e.g. humorously editing other peoples photos), shit-talking (e.g. making fun of Badger), sharing random photography-related news, etc. Since it is in the off-topic portion of the forums, I guess almost anything goes (as long as it's related to photography)?

Mods, perhaps we can sticky this so it'll be easier to find?

That being said... I'll begin.

I'm sure some of you heard of Kai, the resident reviewer at DigitalRev. Anyways, I thought this was a humorous, informative, and interesting set of videos looking at the durability of two somewhat entry-level dSLRs.

I must warn you... you may cringe at the sight of what happens to these two camera bodies. What's truly amazing is the quality of output at the end of these tests.

Earlier today I saw some pretty hot woman... prolly not older than 25, driving around in a Maserati GranTurismo. She was trying parallel park across the street. As I was walking the dogs, I literally saw half a dozen people trying to either take a picture of her, her car, or both.

Anyways, it took her like 5 minutes to parallel park the beast. At the end, she had like 8 ft of space in front of her, and about 5 ft of space behind her. In other words, it took her 5 minutes to parallel park a car in the space for a very large delivery truck. Even after she was does, she didn't even check to see if she hit the curb on those nice wheels or not. Judging from a distance, if she missed the curb it couldn't have been by more than an inch or two.

honestly, I'd rather have taken a ride in her car as opposed to.... in her. Those GrandSports look awesome!

Yesterday I watched a young Asian woman take 5 minutes to park a VW Beetle in front of my office. She didn't have a car in front. Should have been a simple park in 10 seconds. She hit the curb hard 3 times and then scraped the shit out of her crappy wheels when she finally managed to wrestle the beast into a quasi-parallel position. I bet she went from drive to reverse 12 times while I watched.

People like her make me think about leaving my Z4 in the garage at home.

like i said to chewy, should have offered to park it for her

though the reward would be much smaller in your described situation.
