Sold my BMW
Just parted with my 2006 750Li. Only 60k miles. Had to get the garage space opened up in time for winter, mainly to keep critters from nesting under the hood of my truck (or eating the wires).
May be my last BMW, which is sad considering how many I’ve owned. I really liked that car, but my favorite of all I’ve owned was a 540i/6. Soft spot in my heart for 2000cs and 2002tii. I don’t ordinarily get emotionally attached to cars (or anything inanimate), but I feel kind of sad about this one. |

Hate to be that guy - but could you have waited until after the election? I reckon the disposable income will be flowing better for cars like ours. I’m waiting anyway to sell one of mine. But if the price was right - nevermind. I like this era German car build quality alot. Less nonsense tech.

No worries. There is never a good time to sell or buy except when a buyer and seller can agree on the price. Today was that day for the 7.
I doubt if the election outcome would impact the value of an 18 year old car more than the approach of cold weather. And for me the holidays and other travel made this a better time to offer it up. |

Time will tell. I genuinely believe consumer confidence is low right now, but a quick sale or bird in the hand is generally better than a slightly better price. I don't know much about cold weather stuff, but I believe you She's a beaut! That color combo is my favorite.

I had a 2001 750iL. Loved that car when it ran properly. Smooth as silk at any speed. But man, it was in the shop seemingly every other month. It was on its 3rd radiator when I traded it in at 150k.

Mine ran perfectly, but man are these complicated machines. A lot of the tech was cool in the day but is old, obsolete, unsupported and unreliable today. If I do get another BMW, it will likely be pre-1990. But that is nostalgia overwhelming common sense (and reality). |

She was a beauty.
After a long string of BMWs, I jumped to MB. On my second MB now. First was a C300 and now I have a GLC300. There are a lot of things BMW did right that MB can't seem to do. Rain sensing wipers, for one. The wipers on my GLC300 will turn on for no reason on a sunny day, but not budge an inch when it's raining. The doors will not stay open if there is even a slight breeze or the car is not level. The transmission shifter is a joke and poorly located. And both my MBs suffered a tear in the seat in the same place. There's a business in Champaign that keeps busy repairing MB seats, so it's a known MB issue. I could go on, but you get the point. I loved my BMWs. I tolerate my Mercedes. But it's paid for and still runs well, so I can't justify replacing it now.

I've got a bit of seller's remorse going on, too, after the sale of my 2022 M3 while awaiting the production and arrival of my 2025 M850ix. Since the summer of 1994 there have only been a few short intervals when I was without a BMW. I do enjoy driving the Porsche Macan GTS that is primarily my wife's ride, though. I'm thinking I will be back behind the wheel of my new BMW in January. In the meantime, when the Porsche is not available because my wife is using it, I'm reduced to driving a pickup truck. The Honda Ridgeline is OK, I suppose, but it is definitely not a sporty ride.

I had an E92 335i which was my first BMW… I ended up hating that thing so much. It was ALWAYS at the dealer and half the time it was at the dealer for shit the dealer broke while fixing other shit. I got rear ended by some kid in a pimped out civic probably a couple weeks after I got it, dealer crashed it on their lot, I swear this thing was cursed. I was way upside down on it also so I couldn’t get out of it. Finally ended up tboning some idiot who took a red light. I guess that lifted the curse as everyone was fine, car got totaled and insurance paid enough to cover it and then some. RIP 335i… you will NOT be missed. |
