2001 740i stereo questions

Thank you for accepting me to the forum. I have quesions conerning my 2001 bmw 740i stereo. The display screen has bit the dust. Upon looking at after market stereos I have read in some places that disconnecting factory radio will cause cruise control to stop working. I am not concerned about controlling stereo from steering wheel but do not want to lose cruise control. I should mention this 740i has the sport package with the upgraded system, not like the ususal 740is this year. Any help is appreciated thank you in advance.
