I would like to think the same thing. But we'll have to see what the final production version looks like first to really determine that.

I don't know how BMW managed this with only 718HP.
One silver lining is maybe if this thing comes in well below the price of the AMG. Over $200k based on German price is nuts. I’m on my dealer’s list for an allocation but either the looks or price might make me drop off. If it’s not a pig (looks wise, we all know it will be a porker with weight) and priced in the ballpark of the X5M (and Audi RS6 and AMG wagons) then I am so in, just not sure how likely either of those are.

I am curious about what is going on under the screen in middle of the dashboard. I have often wondered how car companies decide horsepower. Why does the M5 and E63 always have comparable horsepower ratings? Is it collusion? That being said I do not see a need for cars with horsepower greater than the 600 hp in the current M5, but I know the expectations are for horsepower to increase with each new model. I will not be moving from my F90 to this because I keep cars for a while and the F90 has been a great car for me so far. I hope the G90 is a great car though.

I don’t get people trying to shoehorn everything into a single really expensive vehicle. Thinking an X3M AND and M2 would do everything better than this for about the same money.

still have a deposit in for the G99 if it makes it to our shores. might be looking at the RS6 Avant if it doesn’t. these shots are promising in terms of the design, even if we can’t base too much on them

Garage space for one reason…only have room for one car that does it all. I didn’t get my M3 until the E90 was available because I needed 4 doors with 2 kids. In Europe, especially Germany, I didn’t see a single 5er sedan, everything was a touring. As for G99, I was considering it (for uniqueness of touring and performance of M5) until I drove the XM, which was a complete disappointment. Won’t own another Audi, ever, so RS6 is out. Probably will end up with G60 540i or 8GC.

Wonder if these will actually sell well in the US?

Depends on how you define "sell well". But the #1 factor, I think, is if it comes in >$150,000.... nope. I might still, but > $175,000? Nope.

If it's priced too high ($150K+), we'll just see big discounts. Just like we are with the XM.

I haven’t seen my dealer discount their XM at all. Despite sitting on the lot since April.

What you seeing and where?

For sure. It's not a coincidence that they named both of them 60
