Currently swilling an Old Black Lion Ale at the Old Black Lion pub in Hay-on-Wye, Wales. Bitter and hoppy. Both good things.

Stainless Steel gel-filled Ice Cubes. For that perfect chill without the water.

Ah, so the gel freezes and doesn't get into the drink? No added water?

Correct. The cubes are completely sealed with non-toxic gel that freezes solid. Based on reviews, they actually chill the drink even longer than regular ice!

That would make sense, since the gel and steel and likely more sense than ice and would, therefore, equilibrate with the surrounding liquid more slowly.

Sorry.

I almost bought some of those rocks, but reviews were mixed (get it?)

Last night I went from the Old Fashioned in the glass to putting the whole concoction in a mixer and shaking, then pouring into the glass. Sugars were much more well-dispersed, and I enjoyed!

8 drops orange bitters
1 teaspoon brown sugar
a generous amount of Basil Hayden
some water
over rocks

Do you ever tell people it's not that the granite countertop is cold, rather it's just sucking the heat out of your hand at a very efficient rate.

I would imagine that you'd get the same response. I often get that response too. About light, hot & cold air, how soap works, energy transference, etc....

Some nice prices here at Heathrow duty-free. But I'm already toting two carry-on bags, so I'm going to skip the hassle of dealing with a third thing to schlep around. Our gate is, of course, the furthest away. The departure board says it's a 20 minute walk. Oy.

Attention.....Beer lovers in the DFW area!

Franconia Octoberfest is available in a bottle!! I've been waiting for this for 3 years (since they started bottling Franconia). I believe this is the best Octoberfest made, better than even the German brands (Paulaner is close). Available at Kroger and Market Street (At least in Frisco and McKinney).

PROST!

Some nice bottles I saw at Heathrow's duty free shop.

This was about the best deal. I was very tempted. This is a liter bottle, which is hard to find in the US. It works out to about $81.50. Not bad at all.

Then there were these two pricey bottles. Way outside my spending limit. The triple Cask 25 works out to $527.50 and the Oscuro works out to $965.

It was WoW in T3. I didn't get to try anything because some dufus American guy was monopolizing the salesperson's time.
