how straightforward/useful is this?

it's cheap enough to buy used games (or play for a week and return to gamestop), but i've had modded systems in the past and wouldn't mind trying if it's easy.

^ ha ha. but touche, there's a lot of stuff on youtube. looks easy enough, for now i'm still working on the used games i bought (perhaps even a bit more fun knowing i have some skin in the game)

though the videos helped me get a usb external hdd working with the ps3, definitely useful
