The driver demanded to know what I was doing. I told him I was just taking pics of the sunset. He launched into a tirade about it being his land and how it's only courteous to ask permission to walk onto someone else's land, yada, yada. I couldn't believe it. It's not like I was next to his house. In fact, I was several hundred yards from any structure. And I had no idea whose land it was anyway. So now I'm very cautious about being around someone's property.

Jazz legend Kenny Burrell playing "YoYo", an archtop guitar by master luthier Ken Parker, at the famous Westwood Music Center in LA. I own YoYo's brother guitar, "Brownie" and a more distant relative "Spot". (Ken names all of his guitar. No serial numbers):

0-EV on this one. See the blown out upper bout on the guitar. I might have gone lower, but I'd have lost all the detail in Kenny and his jacket. A compromise was needed.

BTW, in all my stuff you can click on the pic and go to Flickr and then see my full EXIF.

Matt, nice effect with the one pod in focus. Sweet bokeh with that lens.

No, I haven't.
Never seen real nice aurora since I'm actually too south (at 59°North), while the aurora is best viewed north of the Arctic Circle at 66°North.

I think they're more common over Alaska/Canada than anywhere else. Northern Norway gets a good view but the rest of the country doesn't have an overhead view like you'd see in Alaska/Canada.

Degrees doesn't matter as much as you think. I saw one (albeit faint) from the outskirts of Madison once. They're commonly seem from Minnesota and South Dakota too on stronger days.

Yep, always pricey to fly west. Not sure why. Going east is much cheaper. Where are you staying?

I've only see it once and that was out the window of a winter night flight to Germany. If you ever fly to Europe in the winter, try to sit on the left side of the plane so your window faces north.
