Many Euro diesels use ad-blue (cow urine) and reduce NOx significantly. Recent research shows that hybrids are massive polluters. A hybrid at idle or upon start-up can release masses of emissions. The game keeps changing though. We had VW diesel-gate. It might only be a matter of time before we hear about a Prius cheat device. Who knows eh.

it says petrol emits as much as diesel with DPF. i guess that's why they require PPF nowadays. but the thing is by far the major proportion of pollution (assuming you have DPF, PPF) are not from cars. at least not in the developed world with emissions regulations ...
