Exactly. It's a German car. What people should to realize is the German car industry is pretty small, with few manufacturers and a close-nit supply chain base, so there is a lot of common design elements between BMW and Mercedes (I can't speak to VW, but I assume it the same). My brother has a Chrysler Crossfire, which is a Mercedes SLK underneath. I work on it from time to time. Without any real experience with Mercedes, but 30+ years with BMWs as a well-resourced DIY'er, I've not had any problems working on the Crossfire, from oil changes to brakes, to belts, etc.
The lift helps too (personal experience). His tool set is a bit beyond a normal DIY'er "with no experience". Not to mention the incredible technical support BMW has on the internet. The entire BMW TIS is available on line.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Yeah, clickbait. The bad one is the E60 rod bearings. This one is just random stuff you can easily DIY without lifting the engine out or dropping the trans. By titling it "M5", I'm already thinking "rod bearings", until I see which version it is.

Lol. Does anyone actually take their car to the dealership after warranty ends? It's just throwing away money for low quality work...

I enjoy his videos but he did take the M5 to the most expensive BMW dealership in town which shares the same facility with Rolls Royce rather than the one that's closer to where he lives for an elevated quote. Not like any dealer is going to give a reasonable quote but still...

Yeah the way this video is titled and presented is total clickbait.
As others have noted, he doesn't have "zero experience", the guy was a mechanic working on Mercs for over a decade, and has a huge selection of tools and a lift in his garage. Bunch of his videos are based off wasting other peoples time. |

well, I have zero "BMW" experience, but worked on Mercedes for over a decade, and you know what, just like any other person on this planet I got all any time you want access to a lift, right...
