I agree, I mean I'd take the 458 over the GTR in a heartbeat. But the price of a GTR is closer to reality and amazing performance for a bargain.

Lol at some of the posts in here. Bottom line is they are all good cars in different ways. Personally, I love the GT-R especially because of bang for buck. I don't actually mind the interior either. You get what you pay for. Similarly, I love the 458 for different reasons. That V8 sounds much better than the GT-R and I much prefer the 458 design.

Like I say though all good cars so stop bitching and turning these threads into debates.

Really? Among the lap times, Top Gear ones are one of the most random ones. They are all done in different day, heck different time of year (anywhere from dry summer day to soaking wet winter day).

Here, same driver, same day:
F458 1:36:22
GTR 1:36:35

And here is a drag race, same day, same exact time:
GTR: 11.2sec, @ 121.8mph
F458: 11.3sec, @ 123.6mph

The only reason why GTR is 0.1sec faster is because of its launch control system. The trap speeds confirm that.

GTR is fast, obviously, but it is not smoking a F458.

It's not wise to compare 2 cars in such different price brackets... as far as performance bang for the buck, there is no other foreign car that can even compare (this is 458 included).

The only problem with that argument is that for another $2K bucks... the GTR gains another 100 or so WHP (very, very conservatively if I may add)... what will the 458 gain for $2k? ... an oil change

There are so many variations of tracks, conditions etc etc when giving a lap time test. I mean for example the Nurburgring has GTR times all over the place, some beating the 458, some losing to it. Many people claim Nissan goes so far as to lie about the lap times of the GTR on the ring. The simple fact of the matter is if you're looking at performance, 458 is by no means a "checkmate". All logic dictates that a GTR shouldn't be even close to a 458. You look at the specs, the weight, the price, and...I shudder when I say this...the brand. As much as I love the 458, the GTR is too close to say either one is a checkmate.

I honestly am starting to get sick of hearing about the GTR. I want it to lose every time there is a comparison because I hate having to fathom that a car exists at such a bargain price that can beat some of my favorite super cars of all time. But the numbers don't lie, and the GTR is just too fast.

In fact , a tuned GT-R would be closer in accelaration to a 458 then a stock GT-R . I've seen stock 458 trapping near 130mph , pretty much what a tuned GT-R would do !

Not really surprising, the 458 has 560hp for 1485kg and the GT-R has around 550hp for 1730kg !

If they don't believe me, they need to ask the experts on e90 post. You guys will surely set them straight.
