MJ vs Kobe

Hi all,

I was doing some searching and found this (I hope this isn't a re post). I think there is NO argument who is a better player. MJ was superior pretty much in every category. One exception might be that Kobe was a better 3 point shooter.

And the gap between them gets wider in playoffs AND even more in finals where the greatness is measured. This doesn't make Kobe a bad player, but not as good as MJ, not even close.

IMO, the major difference between them is that MJ was a much better defender and a leader. And MJ's numbers would have been better if it wasn't for his 2 year farewell with Washington

Here it is. Enjoy

Kobe will retire with 3 championships led by another guy...

MJ retired with 6 with a 2 year intermission led by himself.

Mj can't really be compared to anyone in professional sports, much less basketball. Also, remember that he was in the NBA at a time when it exploded on a global level and was at it's height, then factor in the entire Air Jordan legacy, the dunk contest, the defensive wins and the all star wins as well as the Dream Teams (that were at the time legendary).

Not everyone is into football or baseball... 1 of which is led by an idiot in a sport where physics wins and the other makes me fall asleep in minutes.

Barking up the wrong tree. I don't watch any sports except F1, which I'm barely hanging onto.

Hey, we agree on all accounts... although watching any car racing on tv may be worse than baseball and I am a car enthusiast.

MJ missed two full years in his prime, and still came back as the best in the game. His competitive drive was more than most anyone. He got a ton of calls but he was not the whiny bitch Kobe seems to be.

As I said Kobe is a great player. And he could have been even better player if it wasn't for his gigantic ego...

Nevertheless, it is unfair for both MJ and Kobe to be compared to each other bc MJ is from a league where there is no one else...Kobe is just another great player, which is not bad at all...

well said. No one honestly can compare to MJ. Stats might be close but the legacy of MJ is still far beyond kobes.

F1 is literally the most boring thing to watch on the planet at this point in time. I'm like you, I only watch the "races" now at 4x speed after recording them.

I'm not being an argumentative jerk here, but Jordan didn't exactly miss a whole two years. He wasn't quite himself when the Bulls lost to the Magic in the playoffs in that second year (1995), but he was still there. I'll never forget watching MJ bounce that ball of his foot near the end of the game, it was the first time he ever looked human to me.

Yeah people don't realize that most of the effort spent surfing is just getting out there and catching the wave. If you spend three hours in the water you probably spend a few minutes actually riding the waves. And that's the art of it, what makes great surfers, knowing where to go, what wave to go for.
