Just thought of a new one. Had a Trader Joe's Blueberry Lemonade sparkling water this weekend. One sip and it instantly brought me back to about 1987 and Blueberry flavored New York Seltzer in the little 10 ounce bottles with the styrofoam wrappers. Classic. It looks liek maybe it was re-introduced a couple years ago but I doubt it's the same.

Mega Jolt cola - twice the calories and four times the caffeine of regular Jolt.

The Concorde, and a 3-hour trip from New York to Europe.

Kmart deli submarine sandwiches. Cheap, and the perfect amount of dressing at any store I ever went to.

Woolworth's gun aisle. They had piles of WW-I scrap rifles from European countries for peanuts, and many could be cleaned up to functional with a little elbow grease.

Lafayette Radio Electronics

Heathkit

Jack in the Box in the northeast.....

I heard this on local news (in FL) with morning coffee, just when I thought I heard it all:

They shouldn’t all be green either I guess.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. A tale of two utilizations: toy for some, aerial semi-guided projectile for others. It brings a tear to the eye...

I did love the jarts that mysteriously manifested themselves in our yard one summer day. My older sister, always too cool to play with me, would never touch the yard darts; so I would place the rings in very difficult areas of the yard to reach. I would then position myself on the front porch to see how high/far I could toss them into air and get them into the ring. I realize this was the point, but I'm pretty sure it was a two person scenario. I was happy with this method of play until they grew tiresome.

Years later, new neighbors arrive. The daughter becomes friends with my sister, then becomes my girlfriend; her brother and I become great friends. One afternoon, the four of us are trying to find something to keep us occupied and we come across the jarts; the neighbor kids had never seen them before. My friend, the brother of the girlfriend, my homie.....my ace.....took a jart to the face seconds after it leaving my sweaty palm. The amount of blood that kid lost, in just a matter of moments, horrified me for months....possibly years after that. Seeing that kids face split open like an open roast beef sammich was nothing short of a real life scene from Faces of Death.

Their parents forbid them to visit our house after said incident. Lost a girlfriend and a friend that day. I do still see him on occasion. He's an OB/GYN these days.....adorning a scar that should be considered a prerequisite for an arch nemesis in a James Bond film. Even Albert R. Broccoli would have a difficult time mentally constructing such an evil looking scar to accompany the facial real estate of an evil henchman.

Poor guy.......although......I'm sure that scar has gotten him laid many times over throughout the years; if he's even still interested in vaginas after looking at them all damn day. They say the dirtiest pool around belongs to the guy who cleans pools for a living.

The end.

Classic!

This is similar to the Hall Boys (Yes, they were not know by individual names but collectively which is always a warning for chicanery.) got three cartridge CO2 driven BB machine guns. It was Apocalypse Now at the family reunion. They had coordinated fields of fire, mercilessly pinned down anyone trying to make a break and were only halted on cartridge reload...they didn't think that one through.

I'm surprised no on lost an eye or two. Ahhhhh the good old days!!
