Doubtful. Seven people care. And it's not like Renault sold billions of cars in the early 2000's.
AMG sales were up 44% in 2016..
How many of those are AMG Lite 43 models?

"For Mercedes, it also didn?t hurt that the automaker has won the last three Formula One World Championships and via its in-house tuner Mercedes-AMG is now building some of the best performance cars on the planet. AMG?s sales in 2016 totaled 99,235 cars, an insane 44.1 percent gain on the previous year?s record results."

Not sure, havent seen a break down by model. I I dont know if those are apart of it. Does BMW count the M peformance models when stating M sales?

edit** From the way the cars are listed on MBUSA, those 43 models are counted. Dont see how that takes anything away from rhe AMG brand attracting more customers.

MB up 11.3%
AMG up 44%
BMW up 5.3%

I'm not that surprised, the new 7 came out looking dated already with the rear end of a lexus.
The S class looks more luxurious and original. The base 3 series looks cheap compared to a base C class.

Im certain if BMW ///M had an F1 team that won 3 consecutive championships, their sales would be better than AMG.

but alas, looks like BMW i is the main focus now.

So while I can appreciate MB doing a great job at design, By focusing on raw power and performance with AMG, I think that they are missing the tidal wave that BMW is facing head on. And that is Tesla. The Model 3 is coming...BMWi is an an attempt to answer market demand for an all electric car.

I agree.....
The AMG GT would be near the top of my 'do want' list.

And Benz can shift on a relative dime when it wants or needs to because if its size and relative diversity. BMW can't.

Simply put, BMW is only big enough to put its eggs in a few baskets. Benz has enough eggs to put in almost all baskets. The only advantage BMW has over Benz is BMW Motorrad.

Also BMW just announced they will not build a successor to either the i3 or i8. They will instead focus on building electric vehicles from their normal lineup. They won't say it, but the i-program did not pan out like they thought it would.

Breaking news, making the 6er ugly as hell and calling the 6er an 8er will not go well either.

when you make only two options and both at the extreme ends of your available options it is really going to be a hit or miss. the only place i see i3 in use is the local real estate agency by me uses them when they're not shuffling around clients or meeting clients and the pizzeria/caterer.
