You do have a thing for insects, eh Marc?

Great shot, btw. Was it tough holding focus that close with such a narrow DOF?

Actually I think I have a thing for macro. Insects happen to be interesting macro subjects. Holding the focus was not to difficult because: A. I had the camera on the porch B. Subject was freshly molted, so not very mobile. C. Time delayed shutter

Just set the focus 1:1 and slowly moved it in range, actually took about 10 shots and this is just one of them.

@Dave: Thanks man!

Ah, nothing like a cooperative model.

What's your feelings about this lens over the 100mm macro? Are you going to try that one as well?

SOOC. Just straightened the horizon a bit and resized for the web.

Thanks, Chewy. I'm lovin' the ND filter stacked with the CPL.

CPL on the lens, ND on the CPL. Not sure it makes a diff, but I thought it might be better to have a constant light level hitting the CPL rather than a variable light level hitting the ND. I'm no physics major, so I have no idea if it even matters.

I just wish the lens cap would stay on the ND filter better. The slightest tap knocks it off. I probably need an aftermarket center pinch lens cap.

I'd settle for just making it past the front range of the rockies.

the entire west side of the country is so beautiful.... except for LA.

It was just me, haha. The portion of the Filet Mignon could have been smaller.
