If you're going to be jerk... admit it
Let me start my saying at my age the filter between my brain and my mouth is non existent.
Driving to work this morning, I pull into the left turn only lane to a red arrow. Behind me is one of those livery shuttle bus things. At the last minute he goes right so I figure he didn't know where he was going. He proceeds to go around me on the right, make the left, blow the red arrow light and pull into Starbucks. As luck would have it, he was still in there when I arrived. So I say my good mornings to the employees and then say to him "Just curious, did you not see the red arrow or was that just a d*ck move? He looks at me like I have two heads and plays Mickey the Dope and says excuse me like he doesn't know what I'm talking about. If you're going to be jerk have the balls to admit it. Rant over. Happy Monday boys and girls. |

Last week in one day - actually in one hour I got three rudes. First, I held the door open for a kid - maybe late teens. He didn't say thank you. Of course I say your welcome. No comprehension. Chalked that up to he's a kid, which is pretty sad. A half hour later, I approach a door to enter a store as a man is exiting. I stand aside to let him go first and he lets the door go in my face. I bit my tongue and held back the sarcastic thank you as he was an older than me and I still respect my elders even when they are wrong. Same store on the way out, two blue collar guys do the same thing? WTF? They got the sarcastic thank you. I hold doors for everyone, I say please and thank you. It's pretty sad when common courtesy and manners are forgotten. |

I kind figured you werent from the south when I read this. In my days from CT/NY area it was a fairly common occurrence. In Florida though, while the people are seriously jerks when it comes to driving, people are mostly polite enough to hold doors open for others here, and say thanks/welcome. |

The inconsideration and lack of etiquette is rampant. I've had the same thing with holding doors open--with the same guy twice at the gym. Guy doesn't say anything, like some kind of King. It's like, what you don't see someone holding a door open for you?
And driving is like being in moron land half the time. Luckily the filter between my brain and mouth is still functioning. |

So the guy on my commute this morning decides to change lanes (him, big f-150, me, 135), no turn signal, and wants to occupy the space I'M IN! He's lucky I am paying attention as I have to swerve onto the the highway shoulder. I pass him a minute later, give him the big honk, and he is oblivious, because he is TOO DAMN BUSY LOOKING AT HIS PHONE!!!!! He then swerves around in traffic, swerving into several different lanes. Must have been a very important instagram post.......

Majority of people are ignorant, classless and rude.
Get thoes people behind a wheel and they become self absorbed pricks, prickettes People make driving mistakes and often a hand in the air to say sorry works wonders. Funnily enough a guy driving a BMW (many years ago) instantly deflated a possible road rage incident. But women,,, don't get me started on them. Your supposed to hold a door open, move to a side (if the walk way is narrow) pull a seat. fuk dat too many times they just breeze on down/through or by self entitled princess's but you just don't show the courtesy and you'll get "Oh don't you have any manners" fuk dat |

I get plenty of women who hold the door open, as in they pass in and hold for me to grab it. And then there are a few who hold the door for me to pass first....which puts me a bit off-guard.

Yeah, it certainly would be nice if everybody was polite, respectful, and behaved with class. Unfortunately, the number of people like that seems to be dwindling with each passing day, but is that really a surprise given the world we live in?
I used to be one of those "nice" people too, but considering how so many just don't give a shit about others, I've started worrying less about it and do the same (back), especially the older I get. It's also easier and saves me time if I don't go out of my way for others. Then again, I'm not really a people person. Using your example, there's no real need to hold a goddamn door for some stranger and certainly no need to get mad about it. Honestly, what does that achieve for either parties other than a nice gesture? There are much better things to waste my energy and time on than a nearby rando. Plus, consider that this is a cultural thing and not everybody in the world holds doors for other people. |
