Owned this bad boy for approximately 30 minutes. Yes, this was the day after I purchased it as the motor nearly grenaded as I was driving home from the dealership.

In 2010, I bought my first BMW as a way to celebrate me graduating college. Picked up an 05 M3 coupe with smg. As bad of a rep the smg tranny gets, I actually liked it. Ended up trading it in 3 years later and kinda regretted it. In March of 22’ I’m back with my current 10’ e92 M3 w/ dct.

It's a long story. Here is the TLR portion
Bought 2 year old M3 with 11K miles from the local BMW dealership.
Drove her home all happy.
Car started giving me warnings about the motor overheating on the way home from the dealership.
Pulled over on the side of the freeway to see what the hell was happening. This was of course after the dealership closed.
Went to a local auto parts store to see about coolant. Looked at the car and the street and there was coolant leaking all over the road.
Called tow truck when I got home and they picked the car up back to the dealer.
Dealer said it was a loose hose and everything was fine.
Didn't sit well with me. Returned it and canceled the sale.
Posted it about my experience on the forum.
Got a message from the original owner about the insane story with the car.
Thank God for Bimmerpost lol

Wow! Well in the end it turned well but how stupid a dealer can be!

Stupid enough to not put oil in a car when they were changing it and drive it until the heads blow. Then offer to either rebuilt the motor or buy the car from the owner, who wanted his car but a new motor because he didn't trust them.

Anyway, don't buy used sports cars, ever. You're buying someone else's problem as far as I'm concerned. Lesson learned.

That's a heck of an experience. I've until now bought 2 Premium Selection cars that are like most of you know cars that are on sale by official BMW dealers. I've zero complains so far. First bought with around 25k and drove up to 130k with no problems whatsoever. Second car bought with 17k on the clock and currently with 106k and again no problems at all. This premium service also runs with 2 years warranty but it won't cover everything. So i guess you need to be also lucky somehow - but I don't have as achievement buying cars from random car dealers or privately. I need somehow some secure base. Buying second hand cars will never be a safe decision.

That's a great line up so far! Do you have any pics of them? And I would love to read from you a short overview from car to car. I mean you've been upgrading beautifully. Just wondering if somehow all this moves correspond to your expectations.

The crazy thing is I purchased it from a very large BMW dealership locally. I agree with you, not all used cars are bad, of course. But used sports cars on the other hand, pass.

That's a great line up you had until now. Any pics to share?
Oh I've always got pictures haha the E92 is definitely a special one; I was lucky enough to have it with the Individual Rust Brown interior. Would love to own another one some day.

Edit: not sure why these didn't show up in order lol

First car: E28 533i - wrecked before I had my license

A couple years later, E32 735i.. transmission quit a week after driving it around. Then turned out the seller didn't even own the car. Towed it to his house and demanded my $2500 back. Yes I got it..

Fast forward 15 years: Space grey E92 M3 bought in January 2020, sold in late 2021. Bought an M2C that wasn't for me.. sold it for what I paid 3 months later and picked up my LMB E90. Well, after getting into a track incident with that I decided to part with it and pick up my current Jerez E92 that I got in June 2022. Now that's going to stick around as my track toy

What factors made you get rid of it so quickly?

One track day and I hated how twitchy it felt. Very much the opposite of confidence inspiring. Not to mention you when you turn off DSC and can't use auto rev match, dumb.
