No multicam seems like a big miss for pro video editors.

i edit multicam almost every day which is why I will wait until its added. Also a lot of things seem to be against the norm.

I still dont understand where the projects get saved and where your media files are. If you import footage from an SD card, where does it get copied?

edit multicam on old FCP? or a different NLE?
what do you multicut?

I believe with this new version of FCP, Apple over thought
it.

I don't think they over thought it I feel like the release was rushed. They even said multiclip and xml support will be added later on. I feel like this is a great tool to cut small 5-10 minute clips shot on a DSLR or something. But if you have a long 2 hour movie it will be a head ache. I hate how there are no tracks. I'm used to muting some audio to listen to a single track better and I can't figure out how to do it in this. I also use multiple sequences in a project and that is taken out too. I sometimes add a few clips onto the end of a timeline leaving a gap, then organize and cut form there and you can't do that because of the magnetic bullshit. I also hate how projects are called "events." That is straight out of iMovie. A music video or a documentary is not an event.

I feel like Apple tried to be too revolutionary with this release and changed some elements that are key to video editing.

Apple's trying to maximize their hardware platform
by being innovative with software. Hoping to catch
a younger audience and educating them on their
terminology. That's how you build brand loyalty.

Avid was the same way - that's why Lightworks is
a thing of the past. Something that was industry standard
15 years ago is now dead.
Let's hope that Apples' innovation works
in the next 5 years.

I honestly respect film terminology, that's how
the industry works and speaks, trying to rename
key identification is over think'n it.

whats bugging me the most is that something as simple as a dragging a clip few frames down the timeline is impossible. you gotta put a slug or something in between.

Anyone know how to turn this stupid magnetic bullshit off? Driving me crazy

and to continue on.
-
any investment (time, money, hardware) that any pro editor spent on
apple's NLE just got flush'd down the toilet.
Any legacy that fcp may have established in the
pro editing world is crap'd on.

The world is established as being round - apple is saying it's
flat. That's how this upgrade feels like. Down right dumb.
big fail.

I'm generally an apple fan -
this update of fcp sucks balls.

I'll stick with the hardware and FCP7 for another year, if the direction of final cut pro stays the same then I'm jumpin ship to avid.

Before you guys get all Gung ho about bashing Apple for this software (not to say they don't deserve it right now), here are two articles that might clear up some of your questions/concerns:
