I was wondering that but I don't recall if we heard any radio from FER to CLC.

Surely he can get within 5s if needed to do so. He was stuck like glue most of the race, granted, different tires, but hey I'm not paid the big bucks, but I still can't see any reason why he could not do that
As M power said he was. During the cool down LEC told PER that the two pushed so hard that LEC's tires had started to go off towards the end of the race.

Checo pulled away all day, it just took longer at the end since LEC had DRS helping on the straights but once checo broke that it was over.

Yes you could see Charlie trying to no avail to keep within the 5 seconds after Binotto told him over radio of impending penalty for Checo for not keeping a certain distance to pace car before as Checo dug deep and got away for his 4th win.

The finish order puts Checo back up to just 2 points within Charlie in the drivers standings and again the pressure is on Chas but thankfully Ferrari are 66 points ahead of Merc in the constructors after their 2-3 with Merc's measly 2 points scored which should be some cheer for the tifosi.

Good race, plenty of mistakes all round and it certainly wasn’t dull. Agree it’s a pretty terrible track to try to overtake at normally, in the wet on dry tyres plain crazy.

Good to see Perez get a win he deserved it, yes he pushed the rules but fair play to him for getting the gap to help he evade the inevitable penalty.

Roll on the stunning Suzuka.

Glad for Checo. Max should have won this race, but that move for overtake was the boldest move of the day and he passed more cars than just about everyone combined. He was able to do that knowing how far ahead he is. His charge from 14th to 7th with like 20 mins left was epic.
This track is as hard to pass as Monaco, maybe more so, and that's on a day where it's dry let alone a soaking wet/standing water track on a humid day that never really gets dry.

That's for sure ..Checo ran a fantastic race and did a great job in the WDC standings .

Marko about MAX's wheelspin at the startgrid :

MAX got terrible wheelspin , so bad that his PU went into anti-stall ..
That's why he lost 5 positions .

Red Bull Isn't infallible either , that's what we saw this weekend .
But Checo saved the bell !

Can't wait for Suzuka , but that's a very early race for us ..
I just see that's 6 and 7 AM for us !
While I have to wake up the whole week at 04:15 AM for the company !

The very slowly drying track was tricky to get off cleanly but at least Max got VET and HAM at the end.
Suzuka's an early race start for us as you say plus I'm going to Brands later for the last BTCC of the season.

It felt like Max was the only person passing anyone. Quite a boring race for being wet. Congrats to Perez. Charles has matured, earlier in the season he would have stuffed it trying to pass Perez in the last stint.

Yeah that was a very long, and very boring race.

Good grief.

Did you really say harder to pass than Monaco???

I would take Singapore over Monaco any day. Monaco is not a race, it's a glorified celebrity event that has nothing to offer from a racing perspective.

i was the opposite of most of you. I had to watch the race in several parts throughout the day. It was my favorite race of the year. ?? no idea why. Checo drove the CRAP out of that car. hahahaha... such a technical course - in technical conditions... and he didn't put a foot wrong!!! for 2 hours!! yep - favorite race of the year.

Max driving from the back of the middle 2x... wet offline in singapore? hahaha ... amazing. (of course, ... one attempt begat the second attempt)

I am guessing that Checo/RB had a lot more downforce that Ferrari. Charles kept up - pushed, but without that DF, his tires just went away faster - combine that with losing DRS, and ... lights out.

George getting fastest lap?? hahahaaa.. amazing.

I still want to know what happened with Alonso.

Kuddos to Hamilton for putting it in the wall so square, that even though he hit it pretty hard, he was able to back out and drive until a caution.

Glad to see Danny Ric get P5. I hated that he was consistently falling off of Lando's pace through the last 1/3 of the race. Obviously, Max's lockup and the Alpine's exit made this possible, but... still.

Feel sorry for Alpine, being stuffed by unloyal Piastri and now both the laguna PU's expiring in the race allowing McLaren to step into fourth place in the constructors with not the best showing for unhappy Alonso's 350th GP.

I'm pretty sure , Charlie's tyres were gone .

On the other hand : The moment that Checo heard about his 5 sec. penalty , he floored it completely , and the gap was very quickly 10 + sec.
Checo's race was perfection ...

Alonso was DNF and said : Noise was coming from his PU and it was quite ugly .

Looks like yet another new PU for Fernie in Japan though with just the 5 grid drop, if he has an old used one then it's not worth the risk.

Alonso for sure needs a better car.
His driving has been very good this year, certainly the 2nd half of the season.
He's behind in points on OCO, but mainly due to the retirements, not his driving.

Honestly I can't believe it that RUS moves back to Williams ...
