Black Cayman GT4
Full Bucket Seats
Wing SUpports in Black
Sport Chrono Package
A/C Delete

$92,175

In my dreams haha. Maybe a preowned own. Really... all of the add on's are useless besides the sport chrono and bucket seats.

Unfortunately, in a year you can probably pick up a z/28 for half the price. That is the only frustrating thing about porsche. They are just so damn expensive...

That would be the 911S.

The people that just purchased the Cayman GTS must feel awful knowing this was just $10k more. (no offense to people who bought the GTS).

agreed, but this will be more than $10k difference. the Cayman is the slowest selling car in Porsche's lineup, so my guess is that it's easier to get a deal on a Cayman GTS, whereas I don't think people will be stealing the GT4's (unless they really produce a lot of them, but given it's a GT car, my suspicion is that this will be a low-volume car).

It's always like this in the car world though especially in this day and age where there is so much progress so quick. The news of an incoming GT4 had been floating around most of 2014 so it really shouldn't be that much of an awful surprise to them. Others said this same type of comment with the LCI taillights on the M3, it was like yea we knew this was coming and we're not upset.

Unless you want PDK.

Like someone said above, getting a deal on a GTS will be much easier. You will be lucky to pay even msrp for a GT4.

Some will be lucky to get them for msrp and then there will be some that go for well over sticker especially since this is a GT Porsche and as you said likely to be limited production. The fact that from the outset they are 6mt will make them that much more appealing to guys who have GT3 money but didn't buy a Gt3 because the didn't want pdk. The demand for the GT4 will cause a lot of msrp mark ups.
Just look at how prices have skyrocketed for the 997 GT cars. And rightfully so.

Well, I bought a reasonable full specked Cayman GTS, including the brilliant PCCB`s.

I was indeed aware of an incoming GT4, so no surprise here, but financial wise the step from a GTS to a GT4, both same secs, is in my country >€45.000,--

Wel I do love the GT4, but this is more GT$ or GT€, what ever you like, it is going way over €150.000,-- now that is 991 911 GTS territory !

So IMHO my current Cayman GTS is the best deal ....(for me that is)

I just priced on in Canada, it worked out to about $110,000 not too bad but I wasn't crazy on options. Just added things that contribute to better driving.

Not really. There are a bunch of options which are available on the GTS, but not on the GT4 (like PDK and the better sound systems). More importantly, there's the problem that the GT4 is very low and has a long front overhang. Not so practical as a daily driver...

That should not be a hindrance. I already have one two seater, and am planning on adding another to the garage. If you are able to get one then definitely shoot for the stars!

There is a used 997.2 GT3 for sale near me for $90K (has been in an accident unfortunately, that's why the price isn't above $100K) and a base Cayman GT4 would cost a little over $90K after taxes. Those are the two cars I would be most interested in as a second/track car beside my M3
My choice would between the two would be GT4 since I could buy it new with full warranty, but I also have my eye on the Ford Mustang GT350R - with carbon fiber wheels & magnetic shocks on top of the flat plane V8 that could be an incredible, raw performer near that price range.

There is a 600-700lbs difference between these two cars. The Mustang may be thrilling (heck my M3 is thrilling on track), but still heavy for a track special. The experiences will be very different I should think. And if I could chose I'd go with the Cayman no doubt.
