Ring backpedaling on a "rate lock"... just like T-Mobile did

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. When I signed up for their Ring Protect Plus plan, I was promised a grandfathered and rate-locked plan of $99/yr+tax and now they're saying they're discontinuing the plan, and to continue with monitoring will DOUBLE to $199/yr+tax. Or, I can "keep my rate" and drop to the "standard" plan which does not include alarm monitoring. So WTF am I then paying $100/yr for??? To keep my doorbell videos in the cloud for 90 days? Ummmm, no. Not just no, but hell no. Going back on their promise of "lifetime", just like T-Mobile did. Lying McLiarFace.

We don’t have ours monitored and don’t use their cloud storage. App works anywhere we’ve traveled, can take a screenshot if needed. Other cameras store locally and can be downloaded or saved if needed, provide broader coverage of the property (Ring is the last camera to detect someone, others will catch anything first). I guess if we had a Ring “system” I might view it differently, but I’m generally against subscriptions and storing anything personal or sensitive in the cloud if I can avoid it.

Yea, TBH the doorbell footage is not very important to me, it's the home alarm monitoring that I signed up for in the first place. The frustration and anger is that I was promised a lifetime price guarantee. Sadly, I can't seem to find any written proof of that promise, it must have been either a mail I managed to delete, or more probably in a verbal conversation when I signed up.

T-Mobile pulled the same thing, signed DW and I up for an over-55 plan and we were told "your price will never change". Then a few months ago they changed the tune and raised the plan $5/line.

I guess shame on me for believing these lying companies.
