Parked Car Ventilation feature - Anyone try this?

Okay, I'll admit, I should be working but it's a Friday afternoon and having a hard time focusing here in the office. Picked up my 330xi on 10/25. Some 22 year old girl driving her dad's car hit it on 10/31 (She admitted fault at the scene to the police). It's expected to be about 6+ weeks from 10/31 before I see it back... so still got 4 or so weeks to go until I see it back. Kind of like ordering a car but NOT! So, anyway, all I can do is look through the manual... and in glancing through the online manual, I noticed a feature I never got to check out. I knew about the residual heat button, but how about this? Does this work? Anyone tried it yet with setting a time (I guess this would be good in warm weather, so perhaps someone in the West/South?)....

Have used it down here in Orlando, FL and it is great. Has 2 different time settings on it, perfect for venting the car around 4:30 pm when the inside car temp is close to 160 degrees.

This is a nice feature that further sets the E90 apart from others in the view of the tech-geek.

The Audi A8 has it even better - its entire sunroof is composed of solar panels so that when it's parked in the sun, it circulates air through the vehicle. At no energy cost.

is this the feature that keeps the car warm after shut off? How do you get that to work? I pressed it but the button didn't light up.

How do I get to the menu from the first post in the idrive? I couldn't find it?

Sets it apart how? This is nothing new, has been standard BMW feature for a decade or more.

Great feature, and I use it all the time on my 5er, although only tested it on the new 3er since it wasn't terribly warm. One caveat: frequent use of the feature without running the car enough to recharge the battery could result in a deadbattery.

Let us know how it goes.

I guess I'll wait till the next software update, the one that will supposedly allow mp3s to play, before I take my car in.

KMA - first off, I'm so sorry to hear about your misfortune! I had the same tragedy when my e90 was 5 days old, I was rear ended. I hope everything is okay when it's done.

That feature is obviously an iDrive only thing... and I don't have it. Looks sweet though!

so i got my car back and guess what?!?

Now my BT and assist dont work!

I have RDS but it doesnt work right either. I can see the stations songs playing but in the lower corner it stays on 98.9 no matter what channel im on.

Bringing it back monday for a reprogram. Gonna suck not having BT cause thats my favorite feature.

My SA said that this happens 50% of the time

This option is in the I-drive main menu>vehicle settings>climate>parked car settings. This is only available to those with I-Drive and as it seems from this thread also only those with the post sept. update. This feature is used to circulate the air in the cabin. It can be programmed for two separate times which you chose.

Solar ventilation has been standard on some and an option on other models from 5 through 7 series for years now. The e46 has that option (see accessory pic below). I don’t know if they plan on bringing it back for the e90.

Is this timed ventilation something that’s new to the 3 series? It would seem likely to be a new feature if its only available with iDrive.

You can set the residual heat to continue for up to 15 minutes after the car is off. Is there a continual AC mode for cooling up to 15 minutes after the car has been turned off?

If there’s no continual/15 minute AC I would prefer the solar ventilation. That way it’s always cool on sunny weekends (not just twice a day) and the battery doesn’t get drained.
