Just Picked Up My 2006 Black Sapphire 330i . . .
I just picked up my Black Sapphire 330i, Sport, Premium, Sat Prep and Step. This will be my first Auto BMW (not by choice, but settled for an in-stock vehicle). No doubt, this is the best BMW that I've owned to date. I'll post pics this weekend.
I'm pretty happy with my deal. Since I don't have pics yet, I'll show you my prior BMW's. Here's my 2000 e46 328i My gas powered M3GT and V12 BMW My 2002 330cic Best, Jon Dimalanta Last edited by dme330i; 02-09-2007 at 06:40 PM.. |

Black is nice. That color is so crazy hard to take care of though. Beautiful after a nice wax/buff job.
Congrats on your new baby!

Ditto on Global Imports. Rob Collini took great care of my during the purchase of my '06 325i. He went above and beyond the call of duty in many regards. Got the car for just a hair over invoice.

Car looks great! But as far as color goes, for black there is no better than Jet Black. The metallic black may hide some defects, but it also diminishes depth. I maintained a Jet Black M3 for almost 3 years, and what you can do with that paint is amazing. The problem is it would only stay pristine for about an hour untill pollen, dust, rain etc. would bring it back to reality. No more black for me unless it is a showcar that is garaged whenever not in use. My car on order is TiAg. Silver may not look quite as spectacular, but you won't be pulling out your hair when the sun comes out and all those swirls and paint imperfections raise their heads. Actually, most people don't even notice all of this but I do. Silver is also best, IMHO, at accentuating a car's lines. Black is great for a body style that one is not particularly fond of because the contours and body shape are not that apparent.

Congrats! In that bright sunlight, I would have sworn it was Jet Black. Looks great.
And I am still harboring jealousy towards those of you with post-September production cars that have the cool 10 oclock and 2 oclock humps on the sports steering wheel.

But credit must be given where credit is due, and to the victor go the spoils. IMO there is no better looking color than freshly waxed and polished black. Hot, cool, sexy, sophisticated -- any adjective you want to describe it. Just beautiful. Enjoy your new ride, and I hope you also have a love affair with your buffer.

More than a year later and black sapphire has really impressed me. No chips up front - very few swirls (hardly noticeable). I've clayed once, and zaino'd mid year. That's it.
Definitely better than my friends jet black - his car show swirls like crazy. |
