Unexpected Head to Head - 335I and 350Z

I just had to post this...

I have had my 335i Coupe for about 2 weeks. Steptronic Tranny.

Usual commute home... until today.

A White 350Z pulled up right next to me at a red light. Nothing in front of us, straight run for approx 1.5 miles. It was pretty obvious the engine revving was for my benefit. I had a co-worker with me and she said "no time like the present to test this baby".

I had not used the sport mode with the paddles at all. All I can say is holy crap!. We hit the gas and I was literally thrown back into the seat as I shifted. It was friggn awesome how much this car pulls and pulls and pulls. I left hom behind so fast I couldnt beleive it.

I had a G35 and I thought that was a great car also, so i know the 350Z is a fine machine. I gave the guy the thumbs up at the next light, It was all good

I had a stick on my last BMW so I realize the steptronic is not as "pure" but damit all, this car is just a brute:rocks:

I beleive I got my moneys worth

Cheers..

Nice run....Ive already raced 2 350Zs and 1 G35. All 3 of those races I could only see their cars in the rear view mirror . Mike.

How much did your co-worker weigh? Lose her and your experience will be more pure.

I dynoed my stock 335 right after a 350Z with intake and i put down 60 more hp to the wheels. I wouldn't even bother racing one...

I had one of the first 350's in Texas. White/white sport. Loved it......never. From the first day I was a bit let down. Girl at the time hated riding in it. "Lets go in your truck", everytime. Dumped it and took a bath. I could take one going backwards.

i really keep reading about how much faster these cars are then z's and g's...and dont get me wrong i strongly believe it as they really should be. But when i ran one from a 20 roll with my G coupe 6mt wiht nothing but a injen cai, by 110 i was still on his back bumper which isnt that bad. I now have the 07 G sedan S model bone stock - 6mt, and ran my friends coupe 6mt who also has nothing but an injen CAI a few times from rolls and I kill him real bad.

With the PROcede, it would be more like "toying" with a 350Z or G35 (older gen. or new '07).

A stock 335i is faster than either a stock 350Z or a G35. An older G35 is a 6.2 sec. 0-60mph & 14.5+ sec. 1/4 mi. car, while the 350Z is a bit closer at ~ 5.7 sec. 0-60mph & 14.0 - 14.2 sec. 1/4 mi. car. The new '07 G35 Sedan is quite a bit faster than the previous gen. G35 at ~ 5.4 sec. 0-60mph and 14.0-14.1 sec. 1/4 mi., but again still slower than a stock 335i which will do 0-60mph in 4.8 sec. and the 1/4 mi. in 13.4-13.6 sec.

Try the same run and press the DTC button once so DTC is lighted and put it in sport mode. It will feel even stronger.

There u have it....A PROceded 335i is almost a full 2 seconds faster to 60 than the old gen. G35 . Mike.

actually an 07 x model ran 13.9 at the track...and x's are quite a bit slower then rwd six speeds....im betting i can run anywhere between a 13.6-13.8 bone stock with 07 S 6mt.

with my 06 coupe i ran a 14.08 with an injen cai.

Not unless you're a better driver than the experts at Car & Driver. In C&D's test of the '07 G35 S Sedan (6MT), they got 5.5 sec. 0-60mph and 14.1 sec. @ 101mph 1/4 mi. (comparo of the '07 G35 S Sedan 6MT and '07 BMW 328i Sedan 6MT (not 335i))

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...g35-sport.html
http://www.caranddriver.com/assets/d...5s_comp_ts.pdf

btw -- a PROcede 335i will absolutely walk an '07 G35 S...0-60mph in 4.5 sec. and 12.5-12.6 sec. @ 108+ mph 1/4. mi.

lmfa0...keep believing car magazines and there "expert drivers".

Just a little inside tip...car mags are THE single most biased sources out there. They rate well to those who pay. And there drivers are FAR from experts. Considering I dusted there "expert drivers" times with my coupe, i think i can do the same with my sedan.

and btw...a twin turbo 06 G will absolutly walk on a 335....let alone an 07 with the HR motor.

Im not anything close to knocking your car, as i was strongly considering a 335. Both leases were pretty much exactly the same. Test drove both extensivly, and researched em both....I ended up with the G.

Badges dont sell me.
