Fishing Pole Recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a decent pole for fishing coastal Florida?

May occasionally toss it in one of the thousands of lakes there as well but primarily ocean, near shore.

Something I can learn to grow into and wont break the bank.

Since you sound pretty new to the game I’ll give you my opinion on where to start. I would get a spinning rod/ reel and I would certainly buy a graphite rod over a glass one. The feel of graphite can’t be matched and will improve your catch once you figure out what it helps you feel. Prices on graphite rods have come way down in recent years and very affordable, depending on which brand you choose. I like and own some G. Loomis and St Croix rods but they can get up there in price. You will be able to find one in your price range from the many choices of other brands.
Matching the rod/reel to a particular fish is key. Like golf clubs and wrenches as examples, there are different tools for different jobs. Fortunately Large mouth bass and many salt water southern coastal fish like redfish, trout and snook can be taken of the same rod. Since you said primarily salt I would get one with a little more backbone and a stiffer tip for hook sets in harder mouths and horsing a 20lb snook or redfish.
Check out some Florida fishing forums for what the rods of choice in your price range for your quarry. Here’s a site I've purchased from over the years. Prices are good and they are well know. Good luck and Catch em up!

I have found the Seeker brand to be quite reliable, but I do pretty much exclusive salt. Although with the right bait caster, the bass are plenty of fun, yet I still pull in some decent weight on the yellowtail and h-butt with the same thing.

Plus, for me at least, Seeker is manufactured right here in the 'Nard, so IF I ever had a problem I could walk it right back to the factory for repair. I hear they even fix tips that you broke off by jamming it into the floor/wall!

penn battle II combo is a solid choice and easy to find at bass pro or walmart. better yet, pay a few bucks more and support your local tackle shop and you'll start to get some good fishing report out of them!

probably 2500 or 3000 class to get you started. i have a few of the original penn battle combos and they've held up well over 5 years, although i've used them only in brackish water. just keep them rinsed with fresh water after each use and they will last.

If this is your first rod, just get anything that you feel comfortable spending and without worrying it getting damaged or lost.

My personal favorite and go to brand is Phoenix.

Rod and REEL!!!! You won't hurt either rinsing with fresh water. Lubrication is in order every 12 months on the reel.
