using the same amount of miles driven per month, the average gas car car getting about 24mpg would cost about $200 a month @ $4.50 a gal which is about the average price these days in California

I'm lucky enough to have solar at home and free(slow) charging at work so it's pennies on the dollar for me using my Tesla over my ICE vehicles on a daily basis

Did you pay to get your home solar power (charging) source installed? If so was it expensive? Can your home solar charging system charge the car at night?

no, I did the 20 year lease with Sun Run about 8 years ago and never had to pay any money out of pocket...it was best thing we ever did. With a pool and two AC units our electric bills would be $400-500 a month in the summer before solar... Now SoCal Edison pays us We currently have a $350 credit from them becuse we produce more than we use with a 27 panel system.... so charging during day or night doesn't really effect people with solar with net metering, although it is cheaper to charge between midnight and 6 am so we just schedule our charger to charge during those hours.

I pay $0.05 kWh in the state of Georgia (GA Power). I drive about 800-975 miles per month and my cost is ~$15. The EV is a Tesla Model Y Performance.

Thanks, this is what I'm looking for. I'm driving around 1,250 miles a month and going through $600 of gas a month in the QV.

I'm doing about $150 in gas a week give or take depending on price. 2 1/2 tanks a week approximately

I don’t believe that. I don’t believe it’s $15 to charge that car four times. That’s not how much it cost at supercharging stations.

If someone can show me how many miles they went on a charge and what they paid at a charging station each time with a receipt to get 975 miles worth out of a model Y then I would believe it.

Sorry.

And yes, I realize you don’t probably care.

I'm jumping out of this thread because it's just getting stupid.

I hope you enjoy your forthcoming EV.

You're right, I don't care. I'm not interested in taking one step to try to engage with the anti-EV sentiment that's so prevalent on this site. It's really not hard to comprehend, you're just being difficult. The cost is derived from a remedial math equation.

Yes. I still don’t believe ~$17 for 950 miles. Yes I realize you still don’t care. Prove it please. If you do I’ll apologize here publicly. Thanks.

I pay on average 13 cents a kWh. A kWh on model 3 is roughly 5 miles. So he’s using 190 kWh roughly. If he was using my rate he’d be at 25 bucks. But he could very easily be getting better than 5 mile per kWh range (depends how you drive). And could be easily paying less then .13 per kWh (better overall rate than me, scheduled charging overnight, etc). So….

Your charging cost will be driven by how much you're paying for electricity at home and your efficiency. My efficiency is >80% lifetime on this MYP on just over 13,000 miles. It's really just basic math. There are other factors that will drag down efficiency, but much like a petrol powered car, if your foot is super heavy, your range and cost will reflect that behavior.
