Metric Vs English System

I don't know if its just me or not but I just can't see why we couldn't switch to the metric system like the rest of the world. I mean its so much more logical for calculations and measurement. And if we standardized, the accident with NASA that crashed a space shuttle because 1 country were using the metric system and 1 was using the english system and they forgot to convert would've never happened. I mean 12 inches to a Foot...WTF we're measuring things with the size of the King's foot

So IF its possible to switch the entire country to metric system would you vote to switch to Metric or to keep English.

btw - it's not English....it's called the customary system......

1 mile is longer than 1 km; therefore, the customary system rule!

i think the real reason behind not switching to the metric system is.....

nobody in the U.S. wants to pay $4.06 for a liter of gasoline........

i like $4.06 for a gallon of gasoline.....standard system rulez!

actually in Canada it's ~$1.20 / litre for gas now..."sounds" much cheaper than $3.60 / gallon

... and while we're comparing, it's "litre" not "liter" up here in Canada

Get rid of frickin non-metric measurements. Metric is so much more logical. 10 millimeters in a centimeter, 100 centimeters to a meter, 1000 meters to a kilometer. None of this 12 inches to a foot. WTF is that?

Same crap goes with volume. 1000 millilitre = 1000 cm^3 = 1 litre. WTF is with oz and gallons? Does not make sense.

Or Celsuis v. Fahrenheit. 0 Celsius is freezing point of nonsalinated water. Anything below 0 is when it is icy. Anything above 0 will not be frozen. Nice and simple. 100 Celsius is boiling point of nonsalinated water at standard pressure. WTF is with fahrenheit? 32F and 212F?

Plus then you can have km/h only speedo like us in Canada (and the rest of the world). Makes the gauges look so much cleaner!

I also like cake too btw.

actually theres an argument with Celsuis vs Fahrenheit. While scientifically speaking Celsuis makes absolute sense. Fahrenheit is actually more accurate if you only use whole numbers because there are more "numbers" therefore the gauge is more prescise. Also temperature of US and Europe usually fall between 0F - 100F and rarely exceed that parameter so its more "familiar" for dumb asses that can't think in terms of -16C - 32C.

But, if it were easy conversions (metric volume) there would not have been a $175,000 question on Are you Smarter than a 5th grader like last night: How many ounces in 1 gallon?

Go Metric.

I've been living in the US for 6 years(originally from Aus) and I still think in metric.

Regarding the speedos on BMWs, I don't get why such a high tech car like BMW can't do the metric/imperial conversion electronically like in the Chevy's.

Actually water starts freezing at 37 degrees F. Which is obviously above 0 degrees C.

I believe in a lab (standard pressure...yadda, yadda), water is supposed to form into ice at around 0 degrees / 32F. Of course in certain conditions this doesn't always happen...
