think I must have missed the meeting regarding the recently appearing SPAM warnings highlighted in red (well, salmon I guess) in the classified sections. these appear without details or explanation and some of the OPs in question appear to be legit (based on description details, previous post counts and inspection of those posts). how do we find out why these flags have been added? why is the term SPAM used when it seems like the intended term may be SCAM?

Edit: if this situation is the result of legal advice maybe just post a gagged emoji and I’ll post a thumbs-up.

Maybe good intentions went bad. I thought it was a great idea when the mods/admin gave us the ability to flag posts as spam. It obviously made their lives easier. I know I flag a bunch, but am very careful to make sure that it truly is spam based on the post counts, member date etc.

I did come across spammers hijacking inactive members screen names and brought it to the attention of the powers at be.

When you flag a post, you can flag it as spam or other (violate forum rules) and put comments. I don't believe the comments will show however if someone marks as a scammer.

That being said, I don't look at the classified. I'm not sure if someone is trigger happy and flagging posts that shouldn't be flagged, or as you said they are scammers.

Yes. Previously, when you pressed the little triangle to report spam, the admins had to review and decide. Now if I report a post, that red thing comes up and shows the options - it looks good, or looks like spam. I believe if another member confirms looks like spam, it's gone and I believe the member is gone too.
