2021 College Football Thread
It's coming around to that time again with all the love, hate and swing in emotions of college football!
Hoping this season can be played in its entirety and safely! Cannot wait for my Noles to get back to .500...7 wins is extremely optimistic but ones gotta hope! I am planning to make a trip for Labor Day weekend to watch ND at FSU. Could get ugly but I'm just excited for football!

An upset vs. UNC will be welcome and always happy to see ND lose, but those will be tough games. I really doubt FSU beats us this year, even in Tallahassee and even with Milton.

I feel bad for teams not named OU or Texas but with this new NIL every program is just trying to survive. |

I am most looking forward to Bedlam. OU vs OSU and all the jabs OSU is taking at OU over the SEC move is just hyping everyone up. Gonna have to wear a bulletproof vest under my OU gear

So, what are the odds of Oklahoma and Texas making the jump to the SEC before ‘25? I realize that $75-80M isn’t gum money but odds are the SEC will generate more revenue for everyone.

I think there’s a chance the Big 12 folds up shop with other teams leaving for other conferences, in which case they can move to the SEC and not owe anything (I think).

OU/Texas announcing this now serves 2 purposes. It strengthens their future recruiting as they can now promise SEC coverage for future recruits. And it has the rest of the Big 12 teams scrambling to join other conferences so they arent left holding the bag. With those teams scrambling, they are going to jump ship sooner rather than later, causing the Big 12 to implode. Its going to be an interesting 5-7 years for college football. My prediction is the B1G and ACC will eventually combine, the PAC12 will add some powerhouse schools, and those 3 conferences will break off from the NCAA creating their own league. They will drop the weaker schools, and have 30-40 total schools in the league and be a mini nfl. The money potential for that league is too great for the big 3 conferences not to do it.

That is correct. If the Big 12 folds before 2025, OU/Texas can jump ship without buying out their contract. Even if it doesnt fold this year though, the SEC with OU and Texas in the mix can easily pay back the ~$160mill. OU and Texas football programs made a combined ~360million in revenue, in a pandemic with minimal fans in the stands. That would put the SEC right around $1billion in revenue per year.

I will be interested in the money generated with the NIL by conferences, the SEC and Pac12 will likely dwarf the Big 12 with OSU being the main player. I think the Michigan fans will be embarrassed how far they've fallen behind despite the alumni's pocketbooks.
