Saw a Starlink Train tonight
Wifey and I were out walking our usual route and looked up to see this bizarre string of lights moving across the sky. We were like, WTF? Some folks in a car stopped by us and asked if we thought it was some Starlink satellites. I said it could be, but I wasn't sure. We got home and checked and sure enough, Starlink launched a bunch of them today. You can see them when they're in low orbit before they disperse. This is not my pic, but it's exactly what we saw tonight.

I'd caught one last year when I was out in the middle of nowhere Michigan. About 1AM. Alone in the woods. Not too far from Lake Michigan.
I was like, oh shit. Aliens coming for me. Ran to grab the camera and by then it was gone. I had to drive 45 minutes or so 'til I got phone service again then I googled and found out it was elon space junk. |

I tried to get a shot of it on my iPhone. I didn't think figure it would come out decent, but I never got the chance anyway. Just as I got my phone out, the string faded away.

Cool story - a friend of mine is the Director of the support staff at McMurdo Station in the Antarctic.
Last year she went and spent 4 months on station...she quickly learned that everyone was very unhappy with the bandwidth and internet service. So, she installed Starlink and it was a huge upgrade. It took months to get the equipment since it had to arrive via cargo ship and it's not like that is a heavily travelled route, but then it was fairly simple to install and get up running. And for a side story: she said that McMurdo is the frequent target of hackers....why? Because apparently there are a lot of nutjobs who believe that the government is covering up the existence of aliens beneath the ice there. Spoiler alert: there are no aliens there. |

There's been a few times starlink was used to livestream rally. There is zero service in national forests generally. starlink was the only option and it worked flawlessly to broadcast in 4k.

Thanks, our local TV News usually gives a heads up when the ISS and Starlink are passing over.
Stood outside during the passover time listed on the Starlink site. Only have a few minutes of viewing time. It's a pretty weird seeing them for the first time. Starlink Tracker Link: https://findstarlink.com Rather user friendly. Gives direction of travel and degree of height.
