no. her friend/stylist/MUA posed her. i don't think it's a particularly flattering pose for her body type...by any means. but i also don't think it's the world's worst.

The main problem is the vignette, not sure if that was PP or a characteristic of the lens you were using.

+1 Get rid of the vignette IMO. I personally like to drop a gradient on the sky.

Well Rodi has never been the type NOT to be blunt
Anyway that shot is a perfect example of what I was talking about with the hands....UNNATURAL....maybe it just me but the only thing I can say about most of your photos in the negative aspect is the posing (with the caveat that these are amateur models[?]). Just an opinion...and not meant to be combative or derogatory.

i can't argue with you there. posing is hardly my strong suit. doesn't mean i should stop, i think it means quite the opposite. the only way to improve is through continued efforts. and constructive criticism or telling me what i'm doing wrong is more valuable than a sarcastic remark. after all, we're adults here with a common passion, right?

I meant from a photographers perspective....the beauty (or lack thereof) of the client was irrelevant to my comment. I love Josh's lighting (although I think the white backgrounds are getting a bit long in tooth) and of course his exposure is spot on. My major gripe is the hands like I said before...of course some of the models may be uncomfortable, especially if it is their first time doing something like that. That discomfort translates into stiffness (mannequin like instead of human like). So that being said he has (I am sure he will eventually) come up with a way to relax the ladies. Guys have a tendency to be less self-conscious and portray more confidence, as evidenced by the shot of the baseball player (which is an EXCELLENT shot BTW Josh). The other posed shots you have taken that look great are the two shots of the blonds (separate models) with their thumbs hooked into their jeans front pockets and the one of the blond here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jsophot...n/photostream/

The all look NATURAL....

Is this pose natural enough?

Nice white-tail buck by dcstep, on Flickr

I must admit, some elements of wild life photography are EASY vs. posing and shooting people. I struggle to find my subjects and catch them in good light, get an eye light and do the exposure on the fly, but the pose is usually not the problem, except when they only show me their tails.

When I've shot women, they've always been friends and I only had to focus a little on getting them relaxed. I've leaned toward shooting actresses, who seem to know what to do without a ton of input from me, other than compliments and encouragement. I can't imagine making a living shooting something like high school senior pictures and trying to get thousands of inexperienced girls and guys to relax. I have nothing but respect for those that do that well.

Nice morning on the front nine at the country club. A tad chilly for golf, though.

I have a set of clubs, but I haven't abused a golf ball in years. This CC is nothing like a PGA course, but it is well kept and picturesque. It would probably do me good to get back into the game.

I was actually going to ask you if you had some good fall colors going on down there... Weather.com said our area up here is past peak but you guys in Central IL are in your prime for color mixing.
