iTunes 9
Apple has been on a fail roll lately and this new iTunes is another one.. Seems to me they mess up older features more than they implement new ones. Every album i had that came in 2CDs has the track order messed up now. Instead of having it go tracks 1-10 on CD1 then tracks 1-10 on CD2.. it now goes track 1 from CD1 then track 1 from CD2 etc..
Anyone know how to fix this? It's really annoying when you have a continuos mix and it jumps |

iTunes 9 is a complete fail. Especially the part where they changed the background of the grid view from black to white. This makes my eyes bleed. The rest of UI changes also look like ass....
As far as track order issue, you need to go and set the Disc Number tags, that way it will sort it correctly. Disc 1 of 3 Disc 2 of 3 Disc 3 of 3 All my multi-disc compilations seem totally fine.

I'm really annoyed that they axed the shopping cart feature.

This iPhone 3.1 / iTunes 9 roll out is nothing but more ways to help people spend money! The customers are nothing more than cash cows helping Apple's bank account, while real usability issues and features are put on the back burner.

Apple is getting too big for their own good and eventually will flop if they don't get their shit together. Never before did their products fail so much. Did they cut back on testing or something? |

90% of my iTunes library is my dj tracks, and then all albums are in a separate playlist where they are organized by album title, i guess that's why it works for me.... btw, 10.6.1 is out... aaaand it fixes nothing. lol

iTunes 9 is working fine for me. Loads right up without a delay. My tracks are all organized like they were. Only big difference for me is that they changed the key command for the mini player, went from apple-ctrl-z to shift-apple-m ... no big whoop. I also have no problems with multi-CD tracks coming up in the way you are describing, bhd. Is it possible that your tunes aren't properly labelled and thus iTunes is having trouble organizing?
And sorry to say solefald, but there are a bunch of fixes in 10.6.1. My guess is that they just aren't ones that you are noticing. Here is a list of some of the things they fixed: • Printer compatibility enhancements for printers that do not properly appear in the Add Printer browser. • Bug fix for DVD playback (when playback stops abruptly) • Bug fix for the Dock (bug prevents removal of icons from the Dock) • Bug fix for account set up and sending mail via SMTP servers in Mail • Bug fix for Sierra Wireless 3G modems • Adobe Flash Player update (new plug-in version 10.0.32.18) The flash one was a biggy, as Apple actually released an unsecure version of flash with 10.6. Personally my errors from the "PreferencesSyncClient" have now vanished, so I am actually quite happy with my update. Thanks Apple.

The updated UI takes some getting used to, but overall I think it's a good update. Everyone complains when things change significantly. In a month you'll forget that you didn't like the update. I'm really liking the new store (full screen browsing is nice), iPhone sync options, home sharing, and the genius mixes. The app itself is much faster than iTunes 8 for me.

As for snow leopard.. It has a lot of improvements. Like the start up and shutdown time and the new stacks and stuff. But when it messes with core elements like color and stuff then it's not worth it. |

one of them is pretty major, and forces me to reboot my laptop EVERY SINGLE DAY, sometimes multiple times a day. To make matters even worse, i see hundreds of reports about this particular issue from pro-audio users. So i am pretty sure it has come to their attention, since i submitted 4 bug reports about it. Every time i open one, it gets closed 2 weeks later without any response. The last one is still open, but it hasn't been 2 weeks yet. Quote:

bit too lazy to read evrerything
but I'm happy on 10.5.7 and NOT being on iTunes 9 and also NOT being on 3.1 I like having a jailbroken and unlocke 3GS upgrading to 3.1 through iTunes will make your 3GS unjailbrokenable (sorry that's not a word..) apple is just trying to keep people from jailbreak iPhones... remember 10.5.6?? that was made so you couldn't as easily jailbreak iPhones... that was the core reason for that update... sad.. . |

I will stop posting about this stuff now, thank you for the smackdown. And hey as a "pro-audio" user, I know not to put brand new system software on my production machines. If you are using your mac to make $ and you put 10.6 on it, you should reformat and reinstall 10.5.

as far as pro-audio issues, they were here in 10.5 and they are still here in 10.6, so downgrading will not solve anything for me.
