Bird hitting windshield meaning?

A bird hit my windshield while I was speeding, and pretty sure it must have died or got injured. Left a small dot crack. I was reading that it's like some sort of omen. Anyone put some input without sarcasm or own experience?

I will get this fixed but is it a fix that needs to be concerned? Like does it spread quickly?

It's an omen of death. If you believe that stuff it would be bad news for you. Luckily it's nothing to worry about. I've unfortunately hit so many through the years I'm surprised I'm still alive. It happens, doesn't mean anything except the poor bird would still be alive if you weren't speeding. Take it down a notch and use that as the lesson.

Well I killed a dog a few weeks ago in my M6 and have a black lab skull shaped dent in my front bumper at the moment.

I haven't had anything bad happen to me yet. The owner was pissed though, I turned around and went back and forth on the road but didn't find the dog because I didn't kill it instantly, it ran back 1km the other way to its house.

So I posted on the local community facebook page asking if anyone's black lab got hit by a car, then when the owner replied said great - my insurance company will be in touch with you.

Oh shit thats rough... Is he trying to blame you somehow though? Not really your fault if the dog went into the road though? Also 1km is pretty far from home

OP, if it makes you feel any better, I smacked a bird ...last year I think? Was driving over a slight crest/bend and it slammed into my windshield coming the opposite way. From coming into view to impact was just enough time for me to register that it was a bird and not swerve

My insurance company is dealing with it. Our rules in NZ are very clear - if your dog/sheep/cow/horse etc is wandering on the road it is 100% the owner of the animal at fault.

A few years ago I was driving on the freeway in my Merc and hit a bird for the first and only time in my life. Even though there was nothing I could do I did feel a bit bad.

A week later my neighbor fell asleep at the wheel of their new Range Rover, put their foot to the floor, and crashed into my parked car totaling both vehicles.

Coincidence? Probably.

Hitting a bird isn't bad luck. Hitting a deer is.

I've heard it as an omen of death, I've also heard it significant change coming into your life. I've also heard it as the bird is a messenger....it's a shame you were speeding and destroyed your messenger.

It means a bird flew in front of your car.

I can't believe some people actually buy into superstitious garbage.

That sucks, I haven't hit any birds but lots and lots of bugs though. Although there was this one time when I was in HS my friend was driving in this empty parking lot with a lot of pigeons. He sped up and probably hit and killed a few...

Never hit a bird driving but came close a few times, just see one coming at an angle out of peripheral vision and slow down.

What is the last thing that goes through a bug's mind when it hits your windshield?

Its butt.

I ran this by my GF who is the resident spooks and superstitions genius. She said depending on what part of the world you live in it's finding a dead bird in front of your home is bad luck. Striking one with your car is probably just bad luck for the bird. Some places it's a black bird, others it's a white bird but generally it's not just any random bird.

But for your peace of mind, a friend of mine retired safely after 20 years as a United pilot and lost count of how many birds he took out. Including one that left a thud in his rudder pedal and a sizable dent in his vertical stabilizer. The mechanics wondered if it was actually a bird, or superman.

Does anyone remember when Randy Johnson hit a bird with a pitch and it exploded?

OP, I'd only be concerned if this bird was "connected" or perhaps some of it's little bird friends avenging it's death. I'd be less afraid of the omen/superstition and more concerned with something like this.

I once hit a bird with a golf ball by accident. It was sitting on top of a fence and I hit a line drive and nailed it. The line drive BTW was not the shot I was intending, and the fence was not where I was aiming to hit the ball. We all kinda laughed, and my firends said that was a true birdie that they've never seen before.

Back when cars has radio antennas, a bird flew into my antenna while I was going about 70 mph on the freeway. It sliced that damn bird in half. Feathers were everywhere.

I was headed to play golf at the time. I got a birdie on the first hole.

Eh most of the time it's harmless. My biggest "intrusive" superstition is, if im out in the canyons with a group, and anyone says some variation of "one more run/last one" I'll call it a day immediately. Only because I've experienced shit hitting the fan right after that phrase a few too many times

...oh also I never fill up on pump 13
