How to get rid off bees?
So this recently became a problem in my house. We started to notice noise in attic, thought it was mice or something and then I realized it's the bees. The place where they enter attic is the least accessible place in the very corner or the attic that's filled with insulation almost knee height. I thought spraying the hole with chemicals and then sealing it with construction foam would do the trick, but the problem is that they keep coming back for 2 days now and circling the sealed entrance.
I read they will not go away and will eventually find their way inside the house. So how do I get rid of them? It doesn't look like relocation of hive is possible, I can't even see it. Bees traps? Provide beehive for them in the back yard? I don't like to kill bees, but I don't want them to destroy the house either. |

You need to call a beekeeper or someone who can deal with bees and most likely remove the hive, wherever it is. Don't kill them, we need bees

find your local bee club and get in contact with them. most of the time they'll be happy to come out and take the hive.

I am not sure hive is accessible. I can't even see it in attic. Not sure how big the hive is. I have about 5 bees that keep circling now that entrance is sealed.
Perhaps they will go away? Or am I wrong? |

It's probably in your walls. They don't make hives out in the open.

I think its in the attic but so far in corner that it's not visible, plus there is ton of insulation. I am afraid if I call bee keepers or pest control, they will fck up all insulation (2 layers of fiberglass plus blown in stuff) and might not even find much. As soon as I sealed it, I don't hear anything anymore. It's just bothering me that bees keep flying and trying to get in.

You said there is a hole. This sounds like carpenter bees. You can determine this definitively by sitting quietly in the area when the bees are present, for example in the evening. The crunching sound is very noticeable when they are in the holes. They are chewing the wood, which is your dwelling.
Kill them. I defeated carpenter bees after 6-8 full cans of bee killing foam sprayed every few days over the course of a few weeks. Total war must be declared. Kill them all. |

Too bad you don't live near me. I have a great pest control guy. He finally got rid of my bats in the belfry. However, he takes no prisoners.

I have 9 bee hives boxes in the yard as a hobby. I pull about 2-4 gallons of honey a year. Not much, but fun.
Contact your local bee club as suggested for pointers to first IDENTIFY SPECIES and develop measure to safely extract the bees (safely for you, the adult bees and their brood). Since you can hear them up there…. Damn.. that's a large established colony. It's going to take a shop vac to capture the bees live and then go back to extract the brood, comb, then re- establish the colony elsewhere. Politely ask not to use chemicals, and keep the brood and colony intact. Chemicals will work, but you'll be left with a dead colony rotting up there. If left alone, the colony will continue to swarm and expand if there is ample room in your attic. The colony will also attract other pests such as mites and all things that want honey or the larvae. Be prepared for some minor demolition of drywall etc for the extraction. The winter won't get rid of them either as they've chosen a good spot to nestle together and generate their own heat. Sorry to hear this. I know it sucks. |

That should do it.

I dont hate them, I was right there sealing it on the roof while they were all flying around me. No injuries I did end up killing some since I thought spray would repel them, but it didn't. I guess I'll wait and see if they keep coming back, then will call bee keepers. I know someone is selling honey like 2 min from me, maybe they will help

Call a beekeeper or professional exterminator. You don’t want dead bees in the attic.

I got stung on the head by a wasp today. Totally unprovoked. Still feeling sick from it and I have a major welt. They seem to have found a hole in my siding and have taken up residence. Will go full genocide on them tomorrow. Bees are one thing, but I have no tolerance for wasps and similar.
