Probably not - but we will see, merc probably has alot of learning to do to dial in the W13 because the side pods and floor have changed alot. While RB don't seem to have a big change so they're just continuing to learn upon the last test.

That Ferrari still looking supremely fast and sorted - it still is porpoising. I can't wait to see everyone's true pace.

The merc does look very stable hitting the curb though, no bouncing there but the car is still locking up, a bit squirrly on corners (alot of teams seem to have this issue and they are saying it is because of the wind coming from behind messing up the ground effects), and porpoising still seems to be present. So alot of dialing in for merc to do.

That is a very good sign, I hope that 4 seconds disappears when q3 comes. Because I want to see faster not slower cars. I can imagine slow tracks like Monaco being horrific for these cars.

Other than that, the famed "Newey" side pod isn't so special anymore and this really was the talk of the paddock last test, neither is the ferrari side pod - and I was really impressed by this concept. I really thought mercededs were caught out this year with their really basic side pods, but nope turns out mercedes really are the masters of thinking outside the box. This concept really is insane - and it doesn't seem too be having issues with heat thus far and it is decently hot in Bahrain right now.


If this merc concept really is that good, then those brazil "rocket" speeds will be nothing compared to the already low drag 2022 cars + the merc with no side pods reducing drag even further. While those teams with massive side pods will probably be feeling the effects of drag.

You're buying into this way too hard, way too early and with no supporting data.

This could just as equally backfire on them as it can put them ahead of everyone.

And Horner hasn't made any comments about the new Mercedes as of yet.

Just watched a push lap from Gasly at around 1:34 and the cars are not as clumsy when they are pushed harder, but man is it a rough ride. These guys seem to be on the lowest engine mode at the moment.

I like Checo too much to agree with that but Mags and Max would turn Red Bull into the terror of the track.
