Sleep over at the BMW Museum...
Last weekend, I attended a very cool event held by the good folks over at BMW Classic... They were having the first ever Sleepover at the BMW Museum... BMW had invited various BMW Club members from around Germany. I even saw that the BMWCCA also put out this event... sadly no one came from the USA. But we did have about 23 BMW club members from around Germany for the sleepover! First we had a little car show out from of the BMW Museum. Then we met inside for drinks and cocktails at 7PM. We were then given a VIP tour of the Museum... after they has closed their doors to the public. We had the Museum all to ourselves and a special tour guide from the Museum. He graciously answered all our questions and told us little stories about the many cars on display at the Museum. Even showed us how the LED lights behind the Museum's walls work. I never knew there was so many LEDs behind those walls. Very cool. Our tour was only suppose to last an hour... just before our dinner(also held at the Museum!) was scheduled for... but we kind of stretched our tour a little bit longer into the night - as car people do when we talk about cars. An hour or two later... it was time for our catered dinner... held in the M1 RESTAURANT. BMW graciously served us a nice dinner and dessert. After dinner... we were off to a special photography workshop on taking pictures of cars. BMW had two professional photographers there to give us tips and tricks - for taking better pictures of cars. The workshop lasted about an hour... then we were set loose inside of the empty Museum to take our own photos. This was the best part of the experience. Only 23 people let loose to explore the entire museum. We had the run of the Museum. It was a rare privilege - that I will always cherish. As we all were taking pictures of our favorite cars... the Museum staff was setting up the beds for our over night stay. We were to awaken early Sunday morning, have breakfast and be out in time for the museum to open to the public in the morning. All and all... this was a really special night. We got to see and experience the Museum like few have. And to had such a special tour of the Museum with its "experts" was very nice indeed. Many thanks for the good folks at BMW Classic for putting on such a nice event. I look forward to more of these "special events" in the future. Dackel And now for my pictures of the event...

When I first read this, I thought it was going to be like the viral video when two guys hid in an Ikea closet and stayed through theb night until opening the nest day. I was pleasantly surprised
Sounds like a fantastic experience. Was the whole event free or was there a charge? I wish I could experience that here in the States. Thanks for the great read - and many pictures.

Dackelone, thanks for the photos as usual. I felt like I was there. You are lucky to live in relative proximity to that museum! If I could visit the museum it would be one of those life events I would never forget. But thanks again you allowed me to be there by proxy.
The heritage that bmw has is obviously astounding; it should be required for all executives to visit it once a year to remind them what bmw has actually been and why it developed so many fans over time, which has nothing to do with platform sharing with Toyota for example. The people that car will attract will be difficult to classify as fans, more like superficial idiots that don't know much about cars aside from "it looks cool".
