Would you agree?

Hmmm. Looks a lot less like a Heads-Up Display, and more like the instrument panel has been moved from the gauge cluster. to a line at the base of the windshield...

But WHY? Taking our eyes off of the road is not an issue for looking at the dials/instruments. It is the damn screens and menus we have to navigate to use simple controls that is the larger distraction.

A better, actual HUD...that is projected onto the windshield, that you can SEE through, with more information is what I was hoping for....

I'm surprised it took so long for someone to attempt this

1) I don't want passenger info to block my LOS. If the wife is playing with the head unit I don't want to see it. I wonder how they will solve that?

2) Nav and sensor data overlaid on the real world would be cool. Self driving systems have a lot of neat threat tracking you could put up.

3) It kinda seem... late? If we're about to transition to automated cars will we even want a hud?

Also it seems like something very expensive to die just out of warranty.

Heated windshields also come to mind.

That's the whole point. I find the HUD extremely helpful on the street, but even more so on the track. The less I have to look down, the better, knowing my RPM, speed, and gear at all times is invaluable. On the track, oil temp, tire pressure and temp, and if you have DSC enabled, a DSC indicator would be welcome additions to the HUD at the lower portion of the windshield. Current lap time, sector delta, and best lap time would be icing on the cake. As long as it's done intelligently, easy to read, and unobtrusively.
