Btw, I literally live 4 blocks from there. They are doing some induction stuff next week here... should be fun to see.
I wish we were coming up for that...as I'm a fan of the Chili Peppers. Glad they got in...

hehe yeah. Mike Polk is hilarious. He's done a lot of videos before, the most famous ones being the Cleveland tourism video spoofs.

And now for something completely different...

Two projects started this week. One short term, one long. And today they intertwined. I'm on Week 2 of one-lens-per-week. This week it's the 10-22 that won't be leaving the camera (except for tomorrow morning when I have to shoot the Class of 2012 pic). The second project is longer term. I've shot tons of harvest pics and a few pics of the crops earlier in the year, but this year I want to follow one crop from planting to harvesting and maybe even into silage. I stopped and talked to a farmer today who agreed to let me shoot his field of corn and his machinery. Today he was readying the planter. These things have lots of wheels and they all have to track straight so the corn grows in neat rows. He was adjusting the auto-steering on his planter when I stopped by. My hope is that I can document the life cycle of this field of corn *and* make it halfway interesting (which will be the real challenge here). I need to find a way to take something besides snapshots of corn because that would be as boring as, well.....watching corn grow. So here is the planting of the seeds. In a few weeks there will be corn shoots poking up and I'll return to this field to document it. (Bet you can't wait.)

maybe mark a spot on the side of the field to set up your tripod every time you go back so you have a consistent picture.

then maybe take a shot from that position once every 2-4 days throughout the season. and make a GIFF or whatever the animated ones are.

But sounds like you have set yourself an interesting challenge, I'll be staying tuned

From the underwater camera...on the last Scuba trip in Costa Rica.

Video's came out much better than the still shots.

Agreed and saturation is through the roof.

Go easy on those sliders. Most can stay down in single-digits. You only need those high contrast numbers for things like clouds, or B&W. Rather than pushing sliders over to the right, against the bump stops, you might try a subtle S-curve applied to the RGB curve.

When your colors start looking like CSI Miami, you've gone too far. It's a tricky thing that you'll need to practice a little.

Good advice Dave; thanks. I think I over abuse these as well. But when I do, its to compensate a little unwanted blurry effect. But the result still isnt sharp, but at least, it looks better.

I'm still a freshmen compared to you guys and as much as I appreciate getting good comments about my pics, I appreciate even more getting constructive feedback that could help me correct some bad habits. I stopped taking pictures only 6 months ago and since then, I try to make photographs; so I know I have a lot to learn.

I've never followed any course, but I thought about Improve Photography's online 30 days course for $99. I really want to get better at this so I think it could be a great investment.

I learned everything from this forum and The Photo Forum and also by trial and error. I dont have the patience to read that much and barely have time to follow as much tutorials as I would like to; so your input would be more then welcome here

A couple seconds of your time means a lot to us greens And thanks for doing that.
