Trying to get my E90
Ok I went to my local dealership today and left a deposit. I told them that I did not want to order it, but instead buy one from the lot. They said currently they do not have the car that I want. The salesperson checked the computer and said another dealership has the car that I want and it is in the VPC center awaiting delivery. They stated that they will try to trade for the car the other dealership is suppose to recieve. How successful do you think this dealership *trade* will be? Calling all BMW gurus on the board.

As long as they have an E90 to trade with similar options, they should be able to do it. I think you have to pay a $350 swap fee as well since they have to transport the car on their lot to the trader's lot and vice versa.
I did this for my X5, works perfectly if you want to fork up the bucks for it. |

I wanted a Titanium Silver 325 with sports Pkg and premium pkg 6 speed, my dealer traded a grey one for it. They did not charge me anything extra and I should get the car tomorrow. just ask, if they want the sale they will kick in the fee.

It really depends on the price you've negotiated for the car...if you're paying anything close to the sticker price they would surely waive that $350 fee. If you've negotiated a great price (great for you) then they might add a transport fee and it may be reasonable......it's all relative.

Marcus is right, i got a great deal on my X5 and paid the $350. I guess its all relative. Of course, they had me right from the beginning. I walked into the dealer and told them exactly what i wanted with no deviations, they found one, so i didn't have to build one and wait. A small price to pay rather than waiting 6-8 weeks.
Regardless, i got about $2500 off MSRP. Keep in mind this was fully loadeded, the only thing i didn't get was the loading tray. |

Got the same story from my dealer - that they would try to 'trade' for a car I wanted. I think it's a standard line they're taught to use to put more pressure on the buyer.

Well if its at VPC there shouldnt' be any extra fee to deliver to one dealer rather than another. Transporting to and from the other dealer I can see the possibility though.
I don't think the trading is a "line". Its just fact that maybe the dealer down the road has the car in the color you want on order while yours doesn't. Its silly for you to wait two months while the exact car sits at a dealer down the road. If all the dealers work together like that then all the customers can be happier. |

So let me throw a situation at you guys. I have ordered a Black Sapphire Metallic 330i, but i am being drawn to Titanium Silver right now (after seeing a3ndy's). My car is on the boat heading to NY.
If my dealer can find a car with exactly what i want, do you think they would swap this out for me? I can't see why not; i could always kill my deposit and find one, but not so sure i would do that. I just sent an email to my dealer, so let's see what they say. |

Don't do it!! BSM is too cool!!!! Get the spoiler and the windows tinted and you'll thank me over and over. Silver gets "tired" 10 times faster than black. Forget the dirt thing.....BLACK IS BADD!

Hey Bozo, I'm a bit off topic here. When you guys order your cars up there in the UK (US Forces), is your dealership ordering it on behalf of the Canadian Armed Forces? I know that down here in Germany, all the military-sales places have to do that. I am not exactly sure why? Not that I am complaining either, gotta love that price...

Hey bozo:
Here's the deal, i walked into the dealer last week, saw the TiAG on an E90 and fell in love immediately. So now i have mixed emotions. Also, I've already bought the zaino. At this point, i'm even wondering if the dealer is willing to make a trade on an ordered car. |

And yes, a dealer can make a trade on a car..as long as there is another one available at another dealer with the options you are happy with..(im sure there is more than dealer in the windy city)...I think you pay like 200 bucks or something..(someone correct me if im wrong).... |

OK to swap
Sirius:
Any good BMW dealer can swap out cars for you. There should be NO SWAP FEE!! This is a bogus charge. Don't pay it! You will of course have to pay shipping but swapping cars is something they do all the time. AND if your car is still on the dock or just arriving and is not yet at the old dealers then you should NOT even have to pay for shipping. They'll just re-route the car. (Destination charges will still apply, but not extra shipping.) Good luck. Drive fast. sparky |

Well, the dealer found a TiAG in exactly the same config which is being built this week, but it won't be here till the end of June. I may just stick with the Black Sapphire. My wife and I are going out to the dealer tomorrow to take a last look at both. She is in favor of black, but i still have mixed emotions. Judging by the fact that i have Titanium on my x5 right now, i might just stay with black and give it a second time round.
