Donald Trump is president, that should be all the rationale you require.

rubio was my original pick from the primaries, but i'd say anyone who is fiscally moderate/conservative, socially liberal/moderate, anyone who understands how the fed, markets, and economy are supposed to work.

I think she is a solid, reliable, honest person with a good heart to do the right thing for the country. Bolton to me, is just a bad-ass. I love that he puts up with zero crap and really tells it like it is. He is a bit more hawkish, but also strongly conservative when it comes to economic issues.

My dream pick:

3) John Stossel

Why? Love this guy, as he really is a true conservative libertarian. Has my mindset of basically telling the government to piss off and do as little as possible and let the market sort things out. He would never run or win if he did, but it would be awesome in a dream world.

How about yours?
I'll go with my 2016 pick, John Kasich. He deals real solutions and hope, instead of "appealing to the base" and fear.

Nikki Haley is a close second. "I don't get confused" was great.

On John Stoessel, I wouldn't mind a libertarian at the local or state level, but libertarian foreign policy is as scary as Trump. They just aren't fit for the national stage.

I could get behind Rice, but not Bolton.

John Kasich was the reasonable GOP choice in 2016, which is why he didn't advance. I would have voted for him if he were on the ballot.

From the Dem side, Beto O'Rourke seems to be at least reasonably centered versus the likes of Kamala and that crazy woman from NY (Cortez?). Joe Biden is a statesmen in the old sense of the word, and he could be decent if he wasn't so old.

He was for me to, until he turned into a massive _____ during the debates. Then I lost all respect for him.

Beto is just as "unreasonable" as Harris or any other progressive dem. Not a fan here.
From the democratic side, I would think Bloomberg would be their best candidate. Biden would also hands down beat Trump, though, again, I'm not a fan. If I remember correctly, he was against the Bin Laden raid when that decision came up.

That's a big part of why I don't respect him. He is kind of all over the place and when he tries to get tough he backs down just as quick when challenged. No thanks.

I honestly don't know if Biden could or anybody right now for that matter. He has that cult of personality thing going for him right now. I think only an imploding economy could prevent him from a second term right now. Or the ever possibility of something criminal, but only if he is convicted etc. Even that might not stop him.

He was certainly attempting to serve too many masters, I won't argue that.

I think he would have settled down/focused in the general, but we'll never know.

You're not wrong.

So pick three that you would vote for in 2020, irrespective of if they would realistically make it through the primary.

By criteria,

1) Someone with a bit of political experience, my logic is they should know how to unite the country and not divide it!

2) Someone that comes from a modest background. Self-made YES but no trust fund babies!

3) Someone that has never declared bankruptcy and therefore has good judgement in business & more importantly knows how to balance the books.

to me, no offense, this is a bit of an odd question. i don't keep a handful of politicians i'd like as if they were sports stars i want to see play in the championships. i follow ideals & policies rather than people. people can and do change. the idol worship of trump is one of the more troubling things i've seen in recent times.

that said, from what i've seen people speak about, it seems rubio roughly aligns, minus guns, cuban roughly aligns from the things he's spoken about, jamie dimon roughly aligns, as i said, any fiscal moderate/conservative + socially liberal/moderate.

I am not a huge fan of Trump at all, but admit that he has done some good things for our country so far in addition to some not so good ones. It's a mix in my mind, but I still think he is far better than the alternative at the time of Hillary Clinton.

That being said, let's here who you would want to run and win for the next election - or in a hypothetical world, who you would pick to replace him tomorrow under the assumption that it was possible. Be sure to include a sentence or two as to why you make your choice. Feel free to add a couple options and then add a third option as a (dream candidate), one who would probably never run for the office or win, but that you wish would - and why.

I'll go first - here are my top two candidates to replace Trump:

1) Condoleezza Rice
2) John Bolton

How about yours?

Hmm...my two picks would probably be:
- Mike Pence
- Ben Shapiro

Why - Mike is nicely conservative. He'll piss off a bunch with his religious views, but I'm quite ok with them. And I don't think he'll mouth off on Twitter, and honestly probably could be good for America.

Ben Shapiro is just an interesting way of looking at things sometimes. I don't agree with everything he says, but he's pretty quick witted it appears.

My DREAM pick though would be:
- Joekerr. He's a solid, dependable character, educated, but not too much so that he's removed from society, likes cars and guns...in other words he's just about perfect.

Except for a niggling little birth certificate issue.
