$1000 Loyalty Benefit Question

I currently own a 2006 Z4 roadster and a 2007 335i coupe that I purchased for cash (did not use BMW Financial Services) and am currently considering the purchase of a new 2011 X3. I understand I may be eligible for a $1000 loyalty benefit on the X3 purchase. Is this true or do I have to be a BMW Financial Services customer in order to be eligible?
