Lightbulb My HOME THEATER Setup is Nearly Complete...

So this has been one of my "most anticipated" projects ever! I have taken my sweet time and boy has it payed off BIGTIME! To say that the PQ and thunderous sound system is impressive, is an understatement...

Current Setup:

Dolby ATMOS 7.1.4
SILVER TICKET STR-169135: 135in Screen
EPSON 5040UB
YAMAHA AVENTAGE RX-A3070
KLIPSCH
MICCA
MiniX NEO U1
XBOX One
SAMSUNG Blu Ray
DirecTV

The Epson 5040UB is absolutely incredible! I researched projectors for months, scouring the web for reviews, stats, calibration settings, etc. I believe for what it offers overall: PQ and hands-free remote Keystone adjustments, it was an easy decision for me. Everything I have thrown at it: 4K downloads, XBOX One gaming, DirecTV, Blu Ray looks fantastic! I am so happy our home has Cat6 wiring. I went with AT&T Fiber Optics for internet, Our PS4 and XBOX downloads/updates are crazy fast.
I have 1 sub in the rear but plan to add another up front also. The Center channel is not in this pic but present.

Stay tuned for more...

congratulations on your build.

I work in the professional audio/music industry.
I did custom build my own home theater as well;
1.7" compression drivers from spain, 6.5" midranges from Celestion, 12" woofers from RCF, 18" sub from Italy.
Every driver has its own digital sound processing front end, DSP for time alignment, crossover and equalization.
We tuned the speakers our lab, where we design studio reference monitors

Celestion still makes the quality shit? I remember getting a stereo for my 18th, getting ready to go to college. Went into a huge speaker display area, turned on some music I enjoyed, and started switching down the line. Hit the little Celestion and we were done sampling!

Celestion is one of the largest manufacturers of drivers in the world. They build KEF speakers (Parent company factory is called Gold Peak).

They build drivers for many professional audio OEM companies, and guitar amplifier/cabinet manufacturers. They are easily in the top 5 in the world, currently.

Seraphim. That sounds amazing!

All I know is... I was hardly going to the movies with my 80in TV. But now... I simply have no need.

Thanks for reminding me how much harder I should have fought when my wife wanted to sell our place with the basement home theatre so we could move downtown(ish). Who am I kidding, I was never going to win that argument!

Great setup, but one question: why the Yammy? I like their gear, but at the price point of the rest of your stuff there were lots of options. What sold it?

Thanks Johnny! And great question that I'm happy to explain.
First and foremost: Previous experience. This will be my 3rd Yammy. The other 2 having owned a combined 13yrs. Ever since I knew I was going to get a dedicated Theater room, I knew I would get another Yamaha! Not only are they rock solid (I've ran them literally all day at elevated volumes) but they tend to be very efficient in doing so. They never overheat and shut off. The sound quality to my ears and power delivery for the $$ is outstanding. I've heard comparable Denton, Marantz, Pioneer Elite, Onkyo, and I'm just a fan of the product. This particular unit has everything I need and then some. It's WiFi, Bluetooth, Multi Zone and great interface. Hope that answers.

It answers! I wasn't thinking against those brands as much as I was about more niche products. I did look at an Aventage unit for my last upgrade but wound up going with Anthem. That said, the feature set you're citing would probably be more expensive with something like an Anthem and there's that whole thing about diminishing returns.

I'd say @ $8k conservatively.

I can honestly say I saved a couple grand doing the install myself.

Nice amount of audio you got there! Bro the Miccas are phenomenal! The value they present for the sound quality and construction is extraordinary. I was prepared to shell out much more for surround speakers but I figured if they didn't cut it, no harm no foul. You will love them. I went with 8" in-ceiling models.

You know, I went all these years without a dedicated media room and had a very nice quality sounding setup. But this is on a entirely different level.

next is deciding what AVR to go with? probably something from AccessoriesforLess? are you planning on running amps? i'm thinking of going with the new Emotiva BasX Series to push L/C/R and leaving AVR amp duties for SS/SB/Atmosx4? Still on the fence with screen size whether 135" or 150"? about how big is your room? I'm 22x18x8. i know the millions of questions but i'm sure you had the same questions building yours lol! for the screen tho did you have to figure out whether you wanted to go with a white or grey screen? that's something i've been thinking about for the last 6 months before i pull the trigger?
